Artlure Angling Club

Artlure Angling Club KZN Artlure Angling is a club for those who enjoy the thrill of fishing.

Artlure or Artificial Lure Angling can be described as “the art of catching as many of the species of fish in a body of water as possible using only artificial lures”. Artlure Angling Club is as much about fishing as it is about making friends with like-minded people. Artlure often hosts club days and other events where new and old members alike are invited to come together and fish competitively

. These strongly fished battles are then laid to rest as we all come together for an afternoon braai and a few beers. Fishermen's tales are hashed and rehashed with the distance between the storytellers fingers growing in direct proportion to the number of beers that they have had. Artlure is about growing the sport that we all love and sharing our knowledge with one another. It allows us to explore new places and embrace the outdoors as we search for untamed waters and elusive fish.

Our Googan Baits / Artlure Angling Club Christmas Charity Bass Challenge raised some great funding which will go towards FreeMe Wildlife's new clinic in Howick. Here, I'm handing over the cheque to CEO of FreeMe Wildlife, Wade Whitehead and Annette. Was great to support the fantastic work that FreeMe does with respect to rescue, rehabilitation and release of our local fauna.

Vian Senekal fishing with Mark Holder brought in the heaviest bass in the Junior's category with a fish of 2.185kg. The combined weight of his best 2 fish totalled a bag of 3.840kg. Good enough for 3rd place.

I'd also like to lastly but certainly not leastly, say a big thank you once again to Tarryn Saville for her incredible help with the weighing of fish during the Googan Baits - Artlure Angling Club Christmas Charity Bass Challenge. Once all fish are weighed, you patiently go through all paperwork to sift out results so that we're able to set out and allocate a prize table for the day such that prize-giving runs super smoothly. Just run through these pictures showing prize product from our generous sponsors of the Googan Baits - Artlure Angling Club Christmas Charity Bass Challenge 2019. Not pictured are some fresh produce hampers (sitting on cold storage due to the hot day,) as well as vouchers, on their own totalling in excess of R7k, from weekends and nights away at fantastic accommodation venues, tackle vouchers, photography shoots, coffee vouchers, canopy tour vouchers in Karkloof and boat motor services. Add to this, goodie bags to all competing anglers and this makes this a wonderful event to attend in support of charity.
