You can’t visit Plett without hiking this special place.

What a great day on the Bitou river, small private trip with loads of birds, we spotted over 20 species on this magical river.
Of course we had fresh brewed coffee but this time while floating rather than a break on shore.

The Bitou river holds a very significant place in our hearts.
It is vital that it is preserved and protected.

Did you know that the Bitou Wetland has been described as “the most valuable ecological resource of the entire catchment, the Bitou marsh, 654ha in entirety and currently under severe threat of development on its perimeter ....” This description was from an in-depth research paper by Dr Lil Haigh.

It has been identified as a priority biodiversity area and recognized that, if prescribed conservation targets are met, the Bitou Wetland will be of national importance.
