WHY I SUPPORT ISRAEL.
My walk and relationship with Israel started way back in October of 1995. Although i was a Christian for many years, i never had a desire or a good reason to go or visit Israel, leave alone touring the country, to me and in my mind it was a waste of time money and above all it was desert and lots of rocks, that is how much i knew about Israel then.
My wife Renee with her family did a pilgrimage to Israel the previous year that would be October of 1994..the land of Israel, the people and with good godly teachings and Holy Spirit led guidance they all returned with a strange glow and a joy that was very visible and electrified....i must confess, i was moved ..yet i refused to say it out loud....Renee suggested that we must do a tour together i said no.. she said she will pay my ticket and i said ok... so the following year Oct 1995 i was on that airplane and off we went.
Early the next morning we prepared for our landing at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv ,Israel....now suddenly i needed to get of that Airplane.. i grabbed my bags and ran to the front i had to get of..something was driving me ..this was a must.. couldn't wait that long and as soon as that door opened and the staircase attached i ran down that staircase and the very moment my feet touch that Ground i heard a voice loud and clear" WELCOME HOME SON" tears were running down my face i just couldn't stop crying for some unknown reason...for 7 days i cried .. everywhere i walked..every sight we visited ..i just couldn't contain myself...i truly had an encounter with the Holy Spirit connecting me with the Land Israel it's History and the people ..Israel is in my DNA in my heart pumping in my veins... one trip change me and so my journey started from one visit we just finished our 48 tour to Israel 4
I found my thoughts turning to the land and people of Israel. There, I realized, was the deep well of my support for this nation—not just for its geopolitical significance, but for the profound role it plays in the unfolding story of God’s plan for humanity. I cannot help it and cannot stop it and i cannot thank God enough for opening my eyes .. this is my story ..WHY I SUPPORT ISRAEL
I began with the words of Genesis, where the foundation of God’s relationship with Israel is first laid. “The Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’” (Genesis 12:1). These words echoed in my heart. Israel was chosen—not by human merit, but by God's sovereign will. From the beginning, it was a land set apart, chosen to carry the promise of salvation to all the nations of the earth.
God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—whose name He changed to Israel—was not a mere historical event, but a divine declaration. Israel would be a nation where God’s law would dwell, where His presence would be manifest, and from where His message of redemption would go out to the world. When I look at Israel, I see not just a nation, but a living testament to God’s faithfulness to His promises.
As I read further, I remembered the words of the psalmist: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.’” (Psalm 122:6-7). The longing for peace in Jerusalem is not just a political plea, but a spiritual one. For Jerusalem is the city where God's presence dwelt in the temple, the place where heaven touched earth, and where Jesus Himself walked, teaching, healing, and ultimately, offering Himself for the salvation of all who believe.
I thought of Jesus, and how He wept over Jerusalem. In Luke 13:34, He said, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” Jesus’ tears for Israel were not just a sign of sorrow for rejection, but a profound expression of His love for the people of Israel, the very people He came to save.
I support Israel because of the love God has for this nation. It is through Israel that the Messiah came—Jesus, the hope of the world. It is through Israel that salvation was first offered to the Jews and, through them, extended to all nations. As a follower of Christ, I am deeply indebted to the Jewish people for the Savior they gave the world.
I thought about the times in history when Israel has been under siege, when it seemed the world would turn its back on this ancient nation. Yet time and again, God has preserved Israel. The prophets foretold it: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse” (Genesis 12:3). This promise to Abraham continues to hold true, not just as a political principle, but as a spiritual truth. God’s hand upon Israel is visible in both triumphs and trials.
Supporting Israel is not just about defending a political entity; it’s about standing with a nation that carries the legacy of God’s covenant and the promise of His redemption. It’s about recognizing that through Israel, God revealed Himself to the world, and through Israel, His Son entered human history.
As a Christian, my support for Israel is rooted in my faith. I believe that the promises God made to Israel are still in effect today. I long for the day when the prophecy of Zechariah 8:23 will be fulfilled: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’”
I support Israel because I believe in the fulfillment of God's promises. I support Israel because of my deep love for the Jewish people, whose history is woven into the fabric of salvation. I support Israel because, ultimately, my faith in Christ leads me to support the nation through which God's redemptive plan began and continues to unfold.
As I closed my Bible, the evening seemed to glow with a sense of peace. I knew, in the quiet of my heart, why I support Israel: because in Israel’s story, I see the story of God’s faithfulness, His love for humanity, and His unshakable promises—promises that continue to resonate in my life and in the world today.
