This week of diving here in Pomene has produced some brilliant diving, spending time on favourite dive sites and exploring new sites.

On one of the new sites dived it was so spectacular to just hang and film all the life on the reef and in particular, the shoals of
Blue striped snapper, which are indicative of a healthy reef system and their presence generally indicates a thriving and functional coral reef ecosystem.

Scuba diving in Pomene ticks so many boxes:

πŸ‹this time of the year to see and get to listen to all the humpback whale songs underwater
β˜‘οΈno other boat/s out on the reef
β˜‘οΈno rushing back for the next load of divers
β˜‘οΈwinter ocean temperature of 25 degrees C
β˜‘οΈoff the beaten track diving

And more...

Add Pomene Mozambique to your list of must dive places and come and explore our reef systems with us πŸ“Έ

While we were on our 1st dive yesterday, Rob Nettleton was having his own special time topside with a Humpback whale Mom and calf πŸ’™ the calf was totally showing off for both Rob and it's Mom 🀣

We love these special moments that we are able to witness, to capture on film and to share

Watching the humpback whales along our coastline at this time of the year is just so magical and hearing the tail slaps at night is a very special way for us to go to sleep. So blessed less πŸ’™πŸ™

And another sighting to add to the list of potential sightings during the sardine run...sailfish πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

From this season.

Amazing capture on film thanks Dingus vs Wild πŸ’ͺ

This is what we keep saying πŸ˜„πŸ‘

Its about so many interesting encounters and sightings that show up in the same place and at the same time during this season.

This time of the year is Nature at her wildest and most glorious, hour by hour, day by day, the sighting story unfolds.

Some days can be quieter than others and some days are mind blowing action packedπŸ’ͺπŸ‹πŸ¬πŸ¦ˆ

We are simply spectators, soaking it all up with whatever we are gifted with each day.

If you arrive with an open mind and an open heart with few expectations, Nature rewards. Nature doesn't work with ticking boxes in a specific time frame. Sometimes you are lucky to see it all in a short time frame and at other times you have to put extra time in.

This is the sardine run. It lures you in, it captures your heart and your deep spirit of adventure and it keeps people coming back, perhaps not year after year, but coming back again and again for the sardine run nonetheless.

Its our very special time of the year and it's kept us hooked for longer than we can remember πŸ˜„πŸ‘Œgrowing up on the KZN South Coast, the sardine run has always been the highlight of the year, surrounded by festivities, countless hours chasing sardines up and down the coastline, fishing, diving and spearfishing during this time to being a professional sardine run specialist operator, taking clients out to sea to enjoy this excitement with us.

We are already in full planning for our 2027 expedition season, dates and rates are set and out there!!!

If this is for you, come and join us.

Thank you Dingus vs Wild πŸŽ₯

Above & below sardine run 2026...

Here is a tiny taste of what our spotter pilot sees, this is his workspace each day that we are out on the ocean πŸ’ͺπŸ¬πŸ‹

Brad has been our spotter pilot for 8 seasons now, offering Offshore Africa exclusive aerial spotting. What does that mean you ask? Well it means that we have our own pilot and fixed wing aircraft to ourselves, no shared aerial information and our clients can have afternoon after ocean day opportunities to take in a flight with him and spot for themselves and take in the breathtaking landscape of the Wild Coast 😬

Brad is an instructor pilot and a scuba diver πŸ‘Œand it's great to get footage from the air that our crew out on the ocean are experiencing.

Dingus vs Wild got to spend some time in the sky too, here's the story less.

Aside from chasing little silver fish during the sardine run season, we also get to take in the beauty that is the Wild Coast in all its beautiful forms.

If we get the chance to head north, a visit to Waterfall Bluff is always, always an absolute must.

And if you happen to be onboard Clive Smith boat, you've got a better than average chance of going there πŸ€”πŸ€£

Sardine run 2026 - all the recaps on our season are becoming little stories on the page of the book, which will turn out to become our season story πŸ’»

So many people ask us during the season how it is going, how one day is vs another and how this season compares to last season.

Its never possible to answer accurately until the season is over for us, until we piece the many stories together from a 54 day season and write the book πŸ“ΈπŸŽ₯πŸ˜„

Thanks Jordan Walden for this epic piece of the story πŸŽ₯

Sardine run highlights πŸŽ₯

last few days of sardine run 2026 season, we spent a long time with this bit of action, we watched Spinner, Blacktip and some very large Dusky sharks all working together, smashing this shoal of sardines all over the place.

Sadly visibility was not within our safety levels of being in water, however the topside action was hugely interesting and captivating.

Thanks Don Marx for topside πŸ“Έ with Rob Nettleton on board our vessel Offshore II.

Our sardine run 2026 expedition season has wrapped and to say "thanks to each and every one of our sardine run crew team" seems like a small sentence but it's a massive sentence of a few words but with deep meaning.πŸ’™ Passion for the ocean, commitment, service levels, team spirit...the list goes on and on!!! Thank you all!!!.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ sadly missing from this image is Don Marx who had not arrived yet for his season when this was taken. Mark was most likely doing the fuel run and Zuks Zodwa.

There are also many others that played a big role in our season that we would like to thank πŸ™ The Outpost, Jono & staff, Amapondo lodge, George, Naths & staff for taking unbelievable care of all our boat and crew food requirements. You guys rocked big time πŸ™

Port St Johns River Lodge, our accommodation of choice since 2009 for our clients, to management & staff, a big thank you in all ways πŸ™

and to all our support and friends in Port St Johns, our home town, thank you all for your input into our season. πŸ™

There are many cogs that go into a wheel that turns....

With massive thanks to all πŸ‘Œ
