✈️ When a flight delay becomes more than just a delay…

South African travel agents are questioning how British Airways handles disruptions, particularly when late communication leaves agents racing to protect clients’ onward travel plans.

A missed connection can mean more than another flight — it could affect airport transfers, hotels, cruises and entire itineraries. Agents say they can end up sourcing alternative flights, arranging refunds and reissuing tickets, often while trying to avoid additional penalties.

British Airways says it notifies both customers and travel agents when disruptions occur.

So, where does the biggest challenge lie — the disruption itself, or how quickly the right information reaches the people managing the journey?

🚨 Visa typo? Don’t risk travelling with it! ✈️🛂

A recent case involving a South African family denied boarding for Japan after a spelling error on an e-visa is a reminder that even small mistakes can cause major travel problems.

Before you travel, always check your:
✅ Name spelling
✅ Passport number
✅ Date of birth
✅ Travel dates

If you spot an error, contact the relevant embassy, consulate or visa application centre immediately. Corrections can take several working days and may come with additional costs.

And remember: travel insurance generally won’t cover losses caused by visa or documentation errors.

✈️ RwandAir is growing its fleet!

The airline has welcomed its first Airbus A330-200, with four more A330s expected to follow. The new aircraft will help strengthen long-haul operations while offering passengers improved comfort, reliability and onboard connectivity.

🌿 The Garden Route is getting back on its feet!

Following severe storms and flooding in May and June, much of the Garden Route has undergone urgent repairs, restoring roads, essential services and access to key tourism destinations.

While some infrastructure still needs permanent repairs, the region is continuing its recovery ahead of the summer season. The heavy rainfall has also brought welcome relief to water supplies, with Bitou’s dam reaching 97% capacity.

Officials are still monitoring water security closely, but for travellers, the message is positive: the Garden Route is recovering and preparing to welcome visitors. ✈️🌊
