Me vs a tree thatā€™s seen empires rise and fall šŸŒ³

Standing here at the Wonderboom in Pretoria and suddenly my problems feel very... 2026. This fig tree is over 1000 years old. Let that sink in.

While I was stressing about replying to texts, this tree was watching kingdoms form, borders shift, wagons roll past, cities grow, and generations of people stop to stare up at these same branches. It started growing around the year 1025. No WiFi. No rush. Just roots going deeper and shade getting wider.

The Wonderboom isnā€™t just one trunk anymore ā€” its branches dropped down, rooted themselves, and now itā€™s a whole forest made from one tree. Daughter trunks from the mother tree. Kind of poetic, honestly.

So yeah, me vs a tree thatā€™s seen empires rise and fall. I think the tree wins. And Iā€™m okay with that.
