Elephant calves are rarely out of reach of their mothers. In those early years, the herd moves around them, watches over them, and keeps them close. This is community in its most instinctive form, and one that depends on us to conserve it.

They love taking mud, dung, or even urine baths! Yep, you read that right. This feisty little guy found a nice, stinky cow patty and is having the time of his life, rolling around and using his tail to fling himself into the mess. If he’s really into it, he might keep going for 15–20 minutes!

A staple food here, kocho comes from the fibers of the enset plant (false banana) and takes MONTHS to ferment. The final product is almost like a tortilla consistency and can be dipped in honey and/or chili. 10/10 🔥

These animals are being killed for being ugly.

Not dangerous. Not invasive. Not threatening human life.

Just ugly.

The aye-aye: murdered in Madagascar because locals think its face brings death.
The purple frog: crushed in India because villagers call it "cursed."
The warthog: shot across Africa not for food, but because hunters find it grotesque.

This is conservation's ugliest truth: We only protect what we think is beautiful.
