Road users travelling through the N1 Soutpansberg Mountain Pass in Limpopo will see speed and warning signs, rumble strips and temporary Jersey barriers at the Ingwe Lodge hairpin bend. The barriers were installed in April 2026. The permanent upgrade remains proposed and is not yet under way. Follow the Optioned signs and approach the pass with care.

A shorter, more efficient N2 Wild Coast Road connection is taking shape. As at 20 July 2026, the Msikaba Bridge was 50% complete. Work continues on the north and south pylons, while steel deck segments are being fabricated, delivered and prepared for the next major milestone: deck launching. SANRAL currently anticipates completion in 2029.

The Msikaba Bridge is creating economic participation in communities along the Wild Coast. The project has created 666 work opportunities, with approximately R176 million associated with these opportunities. It is infrastructure progress that reaches beyond the bridge itself.

Traffic Advisory I Blasting on the N2 Wild Coast toll highway section 20 between the Lingeni intersection and the Msikaba bridge

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) wishes to advise all road users and surrounding communities that blasting activities will be carried out on the above-mentioned project at the Msikaba South Haul Road, as indicated below:

Tuesday 20th of October, between KM 31.120 and KM 31.160, between 15h00 and 16h00.
Wednesday 21st of October, between KM 31.160 and KM 31.200 between 15h00 and 16h00.

Approximately 30 local SMMEs are targeted through the project’s 30% Contract Participation Goal, valued at approximately R85.49 million. The 6% labour target is valued at approximately R17.1 million, with emphasis on opportunities for youth, women, military veterans and people with disabilities, as well as the development of emerging contractors in CIDB Grades 1 to 4.
