REFLECTION OF THE DAY: YOUR LOVE QUENCHES MY THIRST.
John 6, 1-15 “What is that for so many people?”
Andrew, a disciple of Jesus, wanted to help the people who followed Jesus have something to eat by telling Him that there were only five barley loaves and two fish. What is that for so many people? And Jesus answers that they should tell the people to sit down. The Gospel of John tells us that there were about five thousand men alone, not counting women and children. And just like Andrew, we also ask ourselves constant questions in our lives about what we have and if it will be enough. Have you ever asked yourself that?
That is what the trust we have in God is about, in the words that Jesus tells us, in the way we know how to listen to Him. In the gospels we can read all the answers to our questions. Yes! Let's try. When we make it a habit to read the Bible or the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we can resolve many personal conflicts because this reading helps us make better decisions and places us in the current reality so that we can realize if we are on the path to our happiness or if we want to do good to others. In these books is the Word of God, which shows us the difference between good and evil. If we read it with a simple heart, we can accept the things that happen to us and we can also sow seeds of love in the hearts of those around us. And if we feel that we cannot see it, or understand it, it is good to look for someone with whom to share the reading and help each other grow in the understanding of the things of God. This is one of the reasons why when we go to mass, the priest speaks to us and explains the readings of the day, he gives us a small summary so that we can understand and listen to God.
What is that for so many people? We ask ourselves, What is the Word of God for us? What do we do with it, how do we share it with others? Because the Word of God is everything; It gives a special meaning to the things we experience and is always a guide to discern what God wants from us. Why am I here? What is my motive? Jesus wants us to realize that with His Word we are going to satisfy our hunger and our thirst, even though sometimes we believe that those five loaves and those two fish are not enough.
God's love is always enough, it is we who believe the opposite and it is only with prayer that we are going to increase our faith, it is in service that we are going to recognize ourselves as children of God and in the Eucharist we are going to be able to feel full of Christ, of His love, of His forgiveness.
Today's purpose: May Your Word of love always be the engine that makes me feel full, to be sure that when I listen to You, I will not be left helpless.
