When we talk about dyslexia, the conversation often focuses on reading difficulties, spelling challenges and academic struggles.

But what about the strengths we sometimes overlook? 🧠

Children with dyslexia have unique personalities, talents and abilities that deserve just as much recognition!

Some may demonstrate strengths in:

💡 Creative thinking – Coming up with imaginative ideas and original solutions.

🧩 Problem-solving – Finding alternative ways to approach challenges.

🎨 Imagination – Expressing themselves through art, storytelling or creative activities.

🌍 Big-picture thinking – Recognising connections and understanding broader concepts.

🐘🦒🐒 A WILD DAY FILLED WITH WONDER, LAUGHTER & UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES! 🦁🌿

We had an incredible adventure at the Johannesburg Zoo! ❤️

From majestic elephants and towering giraffes to curious monkeys and fascinating wildlife, every corner brought a new discovery, a little excitement and plenty of smiles! 🐾

A heartfelt THANK YOU to The Johannesburg Zoo for providing our learners with such a wonderful opportunity to explore, discover and experience the beauty of the animal kingdom. 🌍💚

At Edublox Montana, we believe that learning extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Sometimes, the most valuable lessons come from exploring the world around us, asking questions, experiencing new things and creating memories together.

Seeing the excitement, curiosity and happiness on our learners' faces reminded us just how special these experiences truly are. 🥹❤️

📖⛰️ NEW WEEK, DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING!

💙 When reading feels like climbing a mountain!

For some children, reading a simple paragraph can feel like an enormous challenge.

While others read with ease, a child with dyslexia may need to concentrate intensely just to recognise words, sound them out and understand what they are reading.

🧠 What seems effortless to one child may require tremendous mental effort from another.

Children with dyslexia may experience:

📖 Slow or hesitant reading.

🔤 Difficulty sounding out unfamiliar words.

✏️ Challenges remembering spelling patterns.

⏳ Needing extra time to complete reading activities.

😔 Frustration or mental exhaustion after reading tasks.

🌱 Remember: A child who struggles with reading is not necessarily a child who isn't trying. They may be putting in more effort than we realise.

Did you know that every time a child practises reading, their brain is working hard behind the scenes? 🤯

Reading isn't just about recognising letters and words. It's a complex process that involves different areas of the brain working together!

💡 Here's where the magic happens!

As children learn and practise reading, their brains strengthen the connections involved in recognising letters, processing sounds, identifying words and understanding meaning.

These connections help develop:

🔤 Word recognition – Identifying familiar words more quickly and accurately.

📖 Reading fluency – Reading with greater ease and confidence.

🧩 Comprehension – Understanding and making sense of written information.

🧠 Automaticity – Recognising words without having to sound out every letter.

🌟 And here's a SUPER fact!

Our brains have an incredible ability called neuroplasticity — the ability to change and adapt through learning and experience!

For children with dyslexia, developing efficient reading pathways may require more time, explicit instruction and structured practice.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, and we are thrilled to announce that Edublox Montana has partnered with Mike's Kitchen Montana for a fun and meaningful Dyslexia Awareness Colouring Competition! 🎉

We are bringing creativity, awareness and a little friendly competition together to remind everyone that children learn differently, but every child deserves the opportunity to shine! 🌟

🖍️ HOW TO ENTER:

1️⃣ VISIT MIKE'S KITCHEN MONTANA
Bring the family along and join in the fun!

2️⃣ GET CREATIVE! 🎨
Choose one of our colouring pictures and bring it to life with your favourite colours!

✏️ Make sure to complete all the required details on your entry.

📱 PARENTS: Please scan the QR code on the back of the colouring picture to learn more about dyslexia and help us spread awareness!

3️⃣ SUBMIT YOUR MASTERPIECE! 🏆
Once your child has finished colouring, hand the picture to your waitress and ask her to place it in the competition entry box, or ask to place it in the box yourself.

🚨 IMPORTANT: DO NOT TAKE THE COLOURING PICTURE HOME! All entries must be submitted at Mike's Kitchen Montana.
