Where Prince Albert Comes Together

A landmark in the centre of town and a gathering place that has welcomed generations of visitors.

For decades, the Swartberg Hotel has been part of the rhythm of life in Prince Albert – welcoming individual travellers and tour groups, hosting everything from family celebrations and weddings to meetings, conferences and corporate functions.

Its position right in the centre of town makes it an ideal base from which to experience Prince Albert. Step outside and you’re within easy reach of the town’s historic streets, shops, galleries, restaurants and many of its key places of interest.

But there’s also plenty of reason to stay right where you are.

Accommodation, a restaurant and coffee shop, bar, spa and function facilities all come together under one roof — making the Swartberg Hotel as suited to a Karoo weekend away as it is to a group gathering, special celebration or business event.

Stay in the heart of Prince Albert. Be part of its living story.

Karoo moments are rarely planned. They find you.

Morning light on the stoep. Leiwater running through Prince Albert. The garden returning to green. The Swartberg turning rose at dusk. Laughter around the fire kitchen. One last glass beneath a sky full of stars.

With spring around the corner, days linger and life moves easily from street to stoep, garden to pool, table to fire.

At De Kleine Prince, we leave space for the moments that become memories — unhurried, human and entirely your own.

What will your most memorable Karoo moment with us look like?

Come to Prince Albert. Stay a while. De Kleine Prince - Prince Albert - Karoo

As we head into this weekends Vino Camino, the Swartberg Pass is Open.

To ensure uninterrupted access, The Prince Albert Tourism Association, Vino Camino and The Prince Albert Municipality have put patrols in place to prevent oversize vehicles (vehicles over 7m long) from entering the pass and potentially blocking access.

We take our Vino-ing and Camino-ing seriously!

The committee of the Prince Albert Leesfees had to make the difficult decision today not to proceed with this year’s festival. The closure of Meiringspoort and the risk of using the Swartberg Pass as the only alternative route made this decision necessary. With Meiringspoort closed, alternative routes from the coast are much longer and will also have a major impact on visitor numbers.

Dates for 2027 are 3 to 5 September.
