🌿🚗 From Wetlands to Farmland – Our Zambian Adventure Continues! 🌾🇿🇲

Yesterday, we said goodbye to the wetlands and hit the road toward Shigu Farm. The journey took us through vibrant villages, bustling markets, and sweeping farmlands – a completely new side of Zambia unfolding with every mile. 🛣️🏘️🌽

After a very long drive, we finally arrived – and wow, was it worth it! ✨

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of gold and orange 🌅, we fired up a well-deserved braai 🔥🥩 and shared laughs, stories, and unforgettable moments around the campfire under a starlit sky 🌌🌟.

🌿🐦 What an unforgettable adventure in the Bangweulu Wetlands! 🌊✨

Bangweulu Wetlands Zambia

Words can hardly capture the magic of this place, but here’s our best shot! 💚

We kicked off our journey at the Shoebill Rearing Facility, where we got to see one of Africa’s most unique (and prehistoric-looking!) birds up close. 🦤 These rare creatures are being protected and nurtured right here — a true conservation success story!

Next up: a Mokoro Excursion 🛶 through what the locals proudly call their “Delta” — and wow, what an experience! Gliding silently through papyrus channels and shallow lagoons, we felt like we were floating through a dream. 🐸🐢🌾

We saw Fishing Camps along the shores, and learned how the local communities work together sustainably — sharing knowledge, catches, and traditions. 🐟👨🏽‍👩🏾‍👧🏽‍👦 Their spirit of unity and harmony with nature was inspiring!

And then — the black lechwe! 🦌🖤 We saw herds upon herds of these graceful antelopes moving across the floodplains. It was like a scene from a wildlife documentary!

But perhaps the most fascinating part of the wetlands? The story of the 17 rivers 🌊 that feed this massive inland delta. For centuries, these rivers have created a natural wonder — a place where land, water, and wildlife collide in the most beautiful way.

The name Bangweulu means "Where the water meets the sky" — and believe us, it really does! ☁️🌅
