📍 Tucked away in the remote southeast corner of the country, Gonarezhou (meaning “Place of Elephants”) is the second-largest national park in Zimbabwe, but don’t be fooled — it’s often more raw and wild than the more famous parks.

Here, the elephants truly roam free — some of the largest tuskers in Africa live in these ancient lands. 🐘 But that’s just the beginning...

🌄 The iconic Chilojo Cliffs tower over the landscape in a blaze of red and orange, especially at sunset. You haven't experienced true silence until you’ve watched the sun dip behind those cliffs while listening to the distant call of a fish eagle.

🌅 Kariba, Zimbabwe — You stole our hearts! 💙

Spending more than a day in this magical place is not just worthwhile — it’s essential! From the moment we arrived, every step was filled with adventure, beauty, and unforgettable memories. 🌍✨

We kicked off with a visit to one of the most breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the mighty Lake Kariba 🌊⛰️ — a place where the horizon kisses the water and time stands still. We explored a charming traditional market 🧺, where some of our guests found beautiful souvenirs and local treasures to take home. 🪘🎁

Next, we made our way to one of our all-time favorite lunch spots, fondly nicknamed “The Flintstones Place” 🏰🍴 — the design of the lodge is right out of the Stone Age and had us feeling like we’d stepped into another world! We soaked in the lake views, shared laughter over a hearty lunch, and carried the joy with us as we ventured onward. 🌞🛻

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get sweeter… we found a hidden gem — soft serve ice cream at a little garage 🍦⛽ A simple pleasure that hit just right after a day under the African sun.

A visit to Kariba is also not complete without visiting The Ellie Deli ! A hidden gem that brings heart, flavor and charm to this Lakeside town. A local gem known for its friendly service, delicious meats, fresh supplies, and gourmet treats

But the grand finale? 🔥🎉 An epic braai under the stars at the one and only Warthogs Safari Camp Kariba 🐗🏕️ — the best campsite in Kariba, hands down! Huge thanks to the incredible team there for always going above and beyond to make us feel at home. Your hospitality means the world. 🙏❤️

Grateful for these two unforgettable days, for the people, the places, and the stories we now carry with us.
