There are some places you visit, and then there are places that become part of your story. Maabwe Bay is one of those places. 📸

As we arrived on the shores of Lake Kariba, it felt like coming home. The gentle sound of the water, the breathtaking sunsets, and the peaceful atmosphere reminded us why we keep returning. So many memories have been made here over the years—around campfires, under star-filled skies, and while watching the lake come alive at dawn.

There's something truly special about this corner of Zimbabwe. It was the perfect way to spend our first few days back in the country—slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and appreciating the beauty that surrounds us.

🌿🦁 Exploring Chizarira National Park! 🦁🌿

What an incredible adventure into one of Zimbabwe's most remote and untouched wilderness areas!

Getting to Chizarira is no easy task. The roads are long, rough, and challenging, testing both vehicle and traveler alike. But sometimes the greatest rewards come after the hardest journeys, and Chizarira certainly delivers.

As you enter the park, you're greeted by endless wilderness, dramatic landscapes, rugged escarpments, and a sense of isolation that is becoming increasingly rare in today's world. This is true Africa – wild, raw, and beautifully untamed.

While wildlife sightings were limited during our visit, we never felt disappointed. Being surrounded by nature in its purest form was reward enough. The silence, the vast open spaces, the spectacular views, and the feeling of being completely immersed in the wild made every kilometer worthwhile.

Chizarira is not just a destination; it's an experience. A place that reminds you that adventure isn't always about what you see, but about where the journey takes you and how it makes you feel.

A Day in Binga – The Hidden Gem of Lake Kariba! 📸

Today we ventured into the heart of Binga, a small town with a big story to tell. Nestled along the shores of mighty Lake Kariba, Binga is home to the proud Tonga people, one of Zimbabwe's oldest and richest cultures.

Did you know? Before the construction of the Kariba Dam in the late 1950s, thousands of Tonga families lived along the fertile banks of the Zambezi River. The creation of Lake Kariba changed their lives forever, and their resilience and vibrant traditions still shape Binga today.

A stroll through the local markets is an adventure on its own! Colourful stalls filled with handmade baskets, traditional carvings, fresh produce, and beautiful Tonga crafts tell the story of a community deeply connected to its heritage.

Binga is more than just a destination; it's a place of history, culture, warm smiles, and unforgettable memories. From exploring the bustling markets to relaxing beside the shimmering waters of Kariba, every moment here is a reminder that the best adventures are often found off the beaten track.

What a relaxing start to the trip...

🌅✨ Two magical days spent at the breathtaking Maabwe Bay on the shores of Lake Kariba! ✨🌅

Nestled along one of Africa's largest man-made lakes, Maabwe Bay, Lake Kariba ,is truly one of those hidden gems that steals your heart.

Lake Kariba itself was created in the late 1950s when the Kariba Dam was built across the mighty Zambezi River, forming a lake that stretches over 280 km and is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, fish, and birdlife.

Did you know? 🐟🦅
• Lake Kariba is one of the world's largest artificial lakes by volume.
• The lake is famous for its legendary tiger fishing and spectacular sunsets.
• The flooded forests and dead trees rising from the water create one of Africa's most iconic landscapes.
• Wildlife such as elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and countless bird species can often be spotted along its shores.

There is something incredibly special about waking up to the gentle sound of the water, enjoying a coffee while watching fish eagles soar overhead, and ending the day with a fiery Kariba sunset.
