I thought I would re-do my last posting, which I accidentaly erased, of my wonderful stay with my son amd family in Melbourne.
Bradley and Carrin had something planned for everyday of the 2.5 weeks.
Our holiday for 5 days doing The Great Ocean Road was amazing. It was on this road trip that we were fortunate to see some typical Australian birds and animals in the wild. We were able to enjoy the beautiful rock formations along the coast, including The 12 Apostles (now 11).

Oh dear! It would appear that I have deleted my last post of my time in Australia.
How can I get it back? 🤔

After spending some time in and around Christchurch we did a wonderful trip to the Sounds via the beautiful lakes to Queenstown where we had 2 nights and then to Lake Manapouri for 2 nights from where we visited beautiful Doubtful Sound and Millford Sound. Our drive back to Christchurch was a long drive with a stop for lunch in Timaru on the eastern coast. My last day we went to a music concert called Selwyn Sounds where Ronan Keating was the last act. Thanks to Faheema and Malcolm for organising such a wonderful visit.

The next day I was on the same flight as my family going to their home in Christchurch.
They took me to. see so much. I loved the old trams doing city tours and going up the gondola to get a good view of the area. A day trip to Hamner Springs where we basked in the hot water pools and went down a big slide on a tube for 2 (second childhood😂).

I have been back home a couple of weeks now and loved my 7 week trip to Australia and New Zealand. I see I posted almost up to the end of my stay near Auckland. The last day my family from Christchurch fetched me and we caught the ferry to Waiheke Island where we caught the bus to the other side of the small island via the wine farms. We had a lovely lunch at a beachfront restaurant.

Melbourne to Auckland, New Zealand for 12 days. Visited my friend, Beryl, who used to live next door. It was lovely to spend time with her and her lovely family. Special thanks to Roz and Graeme who took me into their home in Silverdale and Roz and Beryl showed me around, also took me to their home in Rotorua where we spent a couple of days. We visited a geiser, Lake Taupo and did the scenic drive back via mount Manganui and Tauranga. It was also good to see Brenda (Beryl's older daughter) who took us around the local beaches and stopped for Beryl's favourite...icecream.

Wow! What a wonderful trip.
On the 3rd Feb I left for Melbourne to visit Brad, Carrin and my precious grandies Thomas (8) and Christopher (5). It was soo good to be with them and to see how well they have settled in and enjoying their lives in nice suburb close to the sea. Had a lovely week with them before I flew to Auckland in New Zealand

I would like to share a beautiful blog by one of our fellow travellers on the Platteland Tours of Namaqualand that we recently did.

This is how it began… 07h00 on Saturday, 13th August, when a group of soon-to-be friends congregated at the Sasol Pinehaven Garage on the outskirts of Krugersdorp for what was to be the first of several morning briefings by our intrepid tour leader, Johan. So, what lay ahead for our intrepid...

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park was our next stop. It was the first time for me to visit this park. Many people love this park and I must admit that it does grow on one and I would love to go back. The park is in the semi desert so the animals and birds are different to the Kruger Park (no elephants😄). It is very difficult to book accommodation in the park and we were very fortunate to get 2 nights at the lovely Kalahari Tented Camp near Mata Mata and 1 night at Twee Rivieren (at the main gate) ... thanks to my sister's perseverance in checking for cancellations. It was also great that we booked the night before and after at Kgalagadi Lodge, which is very close to the main gate and gave us more time in the park. Our last stopover was near Kuruman at Red Sands Country Lodge before driving the final leg home after a wonderful trip.
