⚜️Handmade with Love by the Ladies of De Wetshof

We’re thrilled to share something truly special from our tasting room – delicious, homemade preserves crafted by the incredible ladies of De Wetshof Estate!

These preserves are more than just tasty – they represent a growing initiative to uplift and empower the women on our farm. Every jar you purchase is 100% for them – all proceeds go directly to the talented women who made them.

Our goal? To inspire these ladies to create their own unique products using ingredients from the farm. With support from De Wetshof, we’ll help sell these goods right here in our tasting room – creating sustainable income and celebrating local talent.

Next time you visit, take a jar (or two!) home – you’ll be supporting something truly meaningful.

⚜️De Wetshof headed for the Lowveld, joining a number of South Africa’s best wineries in showing their wares at Mpumalanga Winex. What joy it was, introducing hordes of that region’s wine-lovers to our range of Chardonnays and other wines. The region’s majestic bushveld setting made this an evocative experience for us, as well as other visitors. And showed that good wine adds to the majestic natural environment of the bushveld.

⚜️Icy mornings.

The sound of secateurs snapping among the vines. It is pruning time on De Wetshof Estate. Pruning vineyards removes excess shoots and buds to limit grape production, focusing energy on fewer, higher-quality grapes with better flavour, sugar, and acidity.

The process maintains vine health by eliminating dead, diseased, or overcrowded wood, improving air circulation and light exposure and reducing fungal diseases. Also, it guides growth for optimal canopy management, ensuring efficient photosynthesis and easier harvesting.

Balanced growth is encouraged through pruning, preventing overexertion and extending the vine’s productive life. An essential part of each season, and one helping the vineyard to produce grapes for wines worthy of the De Wetshof label.

⚜️ Happy birthday to Johann De Wet, 3rd generation wine-farmer on De Wetshof.

Yes, there is the role of soil, aspect and climate in making fine wine, but the role of 3 generations of human terroir cannot be discounted.

Knowledge, skill and understanding of vineyards and wine are passed from one generation to another, cementing the special bond between vine, wine and family.

Bateleur and the Vineyard

Here white grapes are depicted symbolising De Wetshof Estate, The House of Chardonnay. The estate has thrown its weight behind conservation efforts aimed at preventing the declining population of the Bateleur eagle, the majestic raptor that inspired De Wetshof’s iconic Bateleur Chardonnay.

The Valley of Wine and Roses

De Wetshof is synonymous with white Iceberg roses. The pear tree blossoms represent one of the oldest trees we have on the farm being over 150 years old and serves as a remembrance to the founders of De Wetshof, Johann Sr. and Dolla de Wet

Terroir and Fynbos

The artwork on the wine bottle draws inspiration from the rich, earthy tones of terracotta clay soil and the vibrant, untamed beauty of the surrounding Robertson Granite Fynbos that reflects De Wetshof’s deep connection to its terroir.
