Just noticed this beautiful "blonde" moth and had to know what it is and "do" in the garden.
Balsam Striped Hawkmoth or
(Hippotion balsaminae).

The Sphingidae are a family of moths commonly called hawk moths, with many of their caterpillars known as hornworms, quite large. Mostly found in the tropics, they are moderate to large in size and are distinguished among moths for their agile and sustained flying ability.
Some hawk moths can hover in midair while they feed on nectar from flowers, similar to Humming birds. They have been studied for their flying ability, especially their ability to move rapidly from side to side while hovering, called "swing-hovering" or "side-slipping". This behaviour may be to deal with or ambush predators that lie in wait in flowers. They look a bit like Mirage aircraft, to me....
Sphingids moths are some of the faster flying insects; some are capable of flying at over 19 km/h. They play a vital role as night pollinators.

Interesting and entertaining wildlife in the garden. Thank you Hesmari Fourie for sharing.
Some interesting facts:
Tail-wagging snails, particularly species within the Sheldonia genus (subfamily Sheldoniinae) found in South Africa, are unique land snails and semi-slugs known for wagging their tail-like posterior to attract mates or possibly navigate, resembling "slimy puppies". These creatures are found in regions like KwaZulu-Natal, with at least eight species documented in the Eastern Cape.

Key Facts About Tail-Wagging Snails
• Behavior: They move their tail end side-to-side, which is actually the muscular foot contracting to move them forward or in response to finding a potential mate.
• Species: Sheldonia fuscicolor (montane tail-wagger) and Sheldonia inuncta (silky tail-wagger) are common examples.
• Habitat: Primarily located in South African forests, such as those in St Lucia and the Lowveld.
• Appearance: They have a distinct, often dark or contrasting, tail end to their foot, which they flick.
• Purpose: The movement is heavily linked to mating, although it may also be used while moving quickly or navigating, as explained by users on Facebook.
The behavior is not fully understood, but it is considered a unique mating strategy among these African Urocyclidae snails, according to findings discussed.
