Chris Bates Safaris Chris Bates Safaris has developed strong links with many safari lodges and hotel groups around South Africa and can assist with great deals for their clients.

Chris started his career in the wildlife industry after close on 15 years in the corporate environment. The move to become a nature guide was inspired from a life long love for the wilderness and its animals. Having completed a professional field guide qualification through EcoTraining and Chris has had lodge experience at a 5 star establishment in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve (a big 5 reserve). C

hris has completed lead trails, field guiding, backup trails, advanced rifle handling, tracks and signs, birding, navigation and orientation and field observations courses. He is working to complete advanced birding through FGASA (Field Guide Association of Southern Africa) to become a birding guide. He is also a member of FGASA and holds a wilderness first aid level 2 qualification. He has had the privilege of walking reserves such as Mashatu (Thuli Block, Botswana), Makuleki (Northern Kruger National Park), Selati, Karongwe, Balule, Klaserie and Timbavati Game Reserves under the guidance of some well respected industry professionals.

If you’re looking to see thousands of Cape Gannets up close this is the place! There’s a viewing hide for a great vantage point and guides on the island and it’s easily accessible by a walk way - breakwater (closed if the seas are rough). .love.southafrica
