A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined me at my book launch last night at Sage & Thyme Village Coffee Shop.

The turnout was fantastic, so many new faces, along with some familiar ones from the canyon and from paths crossed along the way. It meant a great deal to share the evening with you all.

As if that wasn’t enough, today being World Book Day made it even more special. My grandson decided to dress up as his grampa for school. He had the option of going as Harry Potter, but chose me instead, which I’ll happily take … especially since I’m clearly better looking than Harry Potter, albeit with slightly less hair. 🫣😁

Give him a few more years, and I’ll be taking him down into the Fish River Canyon to introduce him to a whole new world.

Thank you again to everyone who supported the launch, your presence truly made it memorable.

Copies will be available on the day at a special reduced launch price.

The event will be hosted at Sage & Thyme, with a small entrance fee of R50 per person, which goes towards the catering and staff for the evening. This includes light snacks, and a cash bar will be available.

It includes accurate GPS-based data, route markers, condition insights, and essential safety and planning guidance, making it a reliable companion for both independent hikers and guided groups.

The book also features a pull-out Distance Matrix Chart detailing distances between 27 key landmarks in the Fish River Canyon.

Laureus Challenge South Africa 2024
🌍 Mission: A 4-day, 100km trek across South Africa's breathtaking Western Cape, all for one powerful goal – improving the mental wellbeing of young people around the world.

When you see the word 'Challenge' in an event title, you know it’s going to be tough … and tough it was! 💪
So when I was asked to join the guiding team, I didn’t hesitate: 'It sounds like fun!' 😅

Being a mountain guide doesn’t make us immune to blisters or sore feet! It’s not every day you tackle 100km, and I was reminded of that pretty quickly.

The highlight? Sharing the trail with sporting legends and Laureus Ambassadors like Bryan Habana, Schalk Brits, Saray Khumalo, Sir Andrew Strauss OBE, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Annabelle Bond, and an incredible group of participants from South Africa and around the world. 🌟

Everyone was down-to-earth, kind, and inspiring. Truly a moment I’ll cherish forever.

Let’s keep making a difference, one step at a time. 🥾💙

It was an honour and pleasure to be selected as one of the guides at the Laureus 4-day 100km Challenge.
The event was a fundraiser to improve the mental wellbeing of young people around the world.
Guests and Laureus Ambassadors flew in from around the world to take part.
