Cruise Ships Return to CT

It gives me great pleasure to share the exciting news of the first cruise ship scheduled to dock at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal in the V&A Waterfront on 18 November and a further 36 ships are expected between November 2021 and May 2022.

It will bring waves of benefits to Cape Town with massive economic spin-off arising from several sources such spending power by cruise passengers and crew, shore-side staffing by cruise liners for tour operations, the spending by cruise liners for goods and services necessary for cruise operations, and the spending for port services and maintenance.

The City of Cape Town is a founding member and funding partner of the newly established Cruise Cape Town Initiative with the aim of boosting this sector for the benefits as outlined. This aligns perfectly with the City’s Tourism Development Strategy that references the Cruise industry as an important part of our destination value proposition.
