This Carp will make enough fish curry for an entire family tonight, thanks to the sustainable fishing methods used by most of our local residents.

Carp is an invasive species in our river so whether these large fish are released back into the river by many who come here to enjoy the sport of catch and release fishing, there are also those who fish to feed their own.

We welcome all fishermen, young and old, provided sustainable fishing methods are practiced with a rod and hook.

Overview
Carp, particularly common and grass carp, are considered invasive species in South Africa, with common carp being a large omnivorous fish that can negatively impact the environment, while grass carp are herbivores that can remove aquatic vegetation.

Following over 20 days of uninterrupted electricity supply, Eskom has encountered another temporary setback. As a result, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from today at 17:30 until further notice. Eskom will give an update on Sunday 2 3 February 2025.
