On 21 March, we set out on a truly unforgettable journey through the slopes of Simonsberg — a day where stories, scenery, and world-class wine came together in the most magical way.

Together with Erns, we started our Simonsberg Wine Walk in Johannesdal, making our way through breathtaking landscapes toward Plaisir Wine Estate. Along the route, we stepped back in time at the Silver Mine, where we enjoyed Zorgvliet’s Silver Mine Wine paired with locally made snacks — standing right where one of South Africa’s first business crimes took place in 1740. A moment where history and wine truly met.

We continued on to the Plaisir deck, where a crisp Chenin Blanc and a beautiful platter awaited us, perfectly complementing the panoramic views. And to end off the day with MCC and freshly made pizza at Plaisir — the perfect reward after an incredible hike.

What made this experience even more special were the stories shared along the way. Erns brought the mountain to life, sharing tales from his book and recounting the many hikes and journeys that have shaped his path. Thank you, Erns, for your passion and storytelling — it made this day something truly meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to Plaisir for your outstanding hospitality, delicious food, and exceptional wines — and to Zorgvliet for such a unique, Silver Mine Wine.

And of course, thank you to Alfred for capturing the beauty of the day through your lens — these moments will last forever.
