Saterdag 5 Augustus het 24 van ons 'n wonderlike staproete meegemaak op Mooiplaas wynlandgoed, saam met Mariella.
Onder leiding van die eienaar, Tielman Roos, het ons 'n studie in fauna en flora van die renosterbos omgewing gekry, terwyl ons ons 'n warm, windstil dag op die plaas gestap het. Tielman is voorwaar 'n bron vol kennis en geskiedenis. Die wyn-proe het geroep teen die einde van die stap. Voorwaar 'n roete wat hoogs aanbeveel kan word.

Op 22 Augustus het 12 stappers saam met Linda du Toit die Sentrale Piek sirkel by ARC Franschhoek agter die Bergrivierdam gestap. Die bewolkte weer was perfek vir stap. Agv rotsstortings moes ons by Scherpenheuwel vir ‘n ent op ons spore terug stap - totale afstand was 15.5 km. 'n Heerlike dag saam met ou en nuwe vriende.

On Saturday 18 July 13 hikers went up to Forts Nek at ARC Franschhoek, Bergrivier dam, with Linda du Toit.
Unfortunately the route is not yet on their map and there are no signage. After crossing the Berg river we did a bit of bundu bashing to find the wooden crate from where there is a clear path up to the neck. The last bit is very eroded but the hikers who made it to the top had beautiful views over the Theewaterkloof dam and Franschhoek valley. ARC indicated that they are still working to get everything in place on this route. Distance officially 22 km.

Missing Link / Twelve Apostles Trail (Camps Bay / Llandudno)

A group of 15 tackled the scenic 13km loop on 15 August 2026. This trail does not have much shade and on a hot day the sun can hit hard, but the cool, misty weather made for perfect conditions on Saturday. Although the mist played some hide-and-seek with the views, it lifted enough to reveal the beautiful coastline. But the real star of the day was the fynbos. There are blooms everywhere along the trail, reminding us that spring is around the corner.

Maandag 10 Augustus, op vrouedag vakansiedag, het Mariella ‘n groep van 11 stappers geneem vir ‘n lui-lekker stap op die Stellenbosch bergpad. Dit was'n heerlike wintersdag met flora wat die geur van winterreën versprei het. Die uitsigte van bo was asemrowend en dit was pret om die gewilde, bekende bakens uit te wys. Altesaam 'n baie lekker uittog.

Constantia Neck hike Saturday 1 August.

The Constantia Nek hike is a popular, moderately graded route up Table Mountain featuring key highlights like De Villiers Dam, the Overseers Cottage, and panoramic views of the winelands. It starts and ends at the Constantia Nek parking lot at the junction of Rhodes Drive and Hout Bay Main Road.

Koopmanskloof hike with Mariella on Saturday 11 July.

An easy 5km trail in the Bottelary Hills. The route follows a footpath ascending the Bottelary hills to the Mountain Hut, located at 476 meters above sea level, offering panoramic 360ᵅ views of Table Mountain, Paarl, Drakenstein, and the Stellenbosch mountains. The scenic expanse of False Bay is visible across from the mountains, providing a remarkable vista. Afterward, hikers returned via the same path to the 'werf', where some enjoyed brunch.

Ox-wagon trail, Somerset West, Saturday 27 June.
Starting at Idiom Restaurant, we followed a jeep track; then, a rocky trail climbing steadily.
Our total ascent on a good trail, steep at times, was 450m. Gouged into the rocks we saw the scars left by the wheels of ox-wagons. The first wagon to venture into the interior left the Cape in 1664.Traffic peaked in 1821 with 4½ thousand wagons using this pass annually - 20% not making it.
At the top of the pass, we headed up to the right to the old cannons for a well-earned snack break before returning to Idiom where refreshments were enjoyed by
those not wanting to leave immediately.

Op 30 Mei het 17 stappers die twee watervalle aan die bokant van Paradyskloof besoek. Ons het by die ingang van Eden bos begin en na ‘n kort stap deur die bos die bergpaadjie bereik. Hier het ons bosse proteas, heide en ander fynbos aangetref. Na versnaperinge by die waterval is ons verder en met nog ‘n paadjie na die tweede waterval. Hier het 'n paar stappers 'n ent teen die oorhang kranse uitgeklouter. Voorwaar 'n pragtige herfsdag. Dankie Linda du Toit wat die stap gelei het.
