Servals and black-backed jackals are both highly successful, medium-sized predators that share the savanna and grassland ecosystems of Southern and East Africa. Though similar in size, they belong to entirely different families—the wild cat (Felidae) and the dog (Canid) families, respectively.

In the wild, these two predators occupy similar rungs in the predator hierarchy. Because black-backed jackals are fiercely territorial and highly opportunistic, they will occasionally compete with servals for the same food sources. Jackals are known to be bold enough to harass solitary servals or steal their kills.

Our beautiful young cheetah mother on the hunt.She will raise her cubs entirely on her own, carrying out a solitary, high-stakes balancing act. Mothers face immense pressure to feed their young while trying to protect them. At this stage, she is now training her 3 cubs more, they joining in on the chases, learning vital skills to bring down and kill their own prey in the future.
