Please be aware of the following blanket statements made by the U.S Government in their travel advisory released on 21 January 2021.

To Clarify:

*Western Cape (Cape Town) is no longer in a severe drought. In fact even outside of our rainy season we are seeing dam levels at their highest levels since 2014.

*High Covid-19 numbers. As of today in the Western Cape there are 4 653 active cases in a population of app. 7 million (0.06%).

*South Africa has some of the most advanced hospitals and medical facilities on the continent.

*Yes there is crime and unrest as in many parts of the world. Please use the services of a registered tour operator and legal guides to make your stay as safe and problem free as possible. In ten years guiding the Cape I have had less incidents then on a single holiday to other parts of the world.

*We are open for business and look forward to connecting with our American friends once more.

Reconsider travel to South Africa due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in South Africa due to crime, civil unrest, health, and drought.

What a crazy year it has been! When we run out of silver linings the best we can do is look forward to the sun rising over the horizon. The road to recovery will be long and full of surprises, twists and turns but much like an epic road trip it is sometimes the less traveled roads that deliver the best rewards.

Finally we have some positive direction and hope to welcome most of our markets back into South Africa! For now we are still awaiting the list of countries who would not be allowed entry, based on the numbers in their own country. The good news (and bad news) is that these numbers change daily and I will keep updating as things change.

Hard to have imagined how rumors of a virus doing the rounds could have had such a major impact on all of our lives. We have gone from SHOCK to DISBELIEF and from ANGER TO SADNESS. As a young father to have gone from feeling accomplished in his career and to be able to give my family almost anything they could want to sitting at home and calculating budgets for an uncertain period of unemployment certainly has been a bitter pill to swallow. But today I CHOOSE to be HAPPY and OPTIMISTIC about the future and reflect fondly on the joys of the past few years.
