During this period, you can access most of the 21 SANParks in the country.

Things to note:
Free access doesn't include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities.

Update on My Wildflower Tours

After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to cancel all planned flower tours to the Biedouw Valley this season.

This decision was not made lightly. Over the past few days, I have received various reports and comments regarding the drought conditions affecting the area. While some flowers are still visible in certain locations, the overall display is no longer consistent enough to provide the spectacular experience my guests expect and deserve.
My priority has always been to offer tours that showcase the very best of the Cape's natural beauty. Rather than risk disappointing my guests, I have decided to focus on the West Coast, where the wildflowers are currently in full bloom and putting on a magnificent display.

The West Coast flower season is looking exceptional, and I look forward to continuing to share this beautiful part of our country with visitors over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I remain committed to providing memorable flower experiences and will keep everyone updated on the best viewing opportunities throughout the season.

Handjie (Cyanella alba subsp. flavescens)

Sommige blomme is so nou met 'n plek verweef dat hulle deel van die streek se identiteit word.

In die Biedouwvallei staan hierdie elegante blom al geslagte lank bekend as die Biedouw-handjie – 'n naam wat van plaas tot plaas oorgedra is lank voordat botaniese handboeke dit beskryf het.
Vir die grootste deel van die jaar rus die plant as 'n klein bolletjie onder die grond. Ná die winterreëns verskyn sy fyn, liggeel blommetjies vir net 'n paar weke. Kyk van naby, en jy ontdek een van die Kaapse Blomryk se klein meesterwerke: donker gemerkte helmknoppe, 'n sierlik geboë styl en 'n blom wat met ongelooflike presisie gevorm is.

Botanies staan hierdie blom bekend as Cyanella alba subsp. flavescens – 'n subspesie wat hoofsaaklik in die Clanwilliam- en Biedouwstreek voorkom. Juis omdat sy natuurlike verspreidingsgebied so beperk is, word dit as SKAARS op Suid-Afrika se Rooilys geklassifiseer.

Vir besoekers is dit dalk net nog 'n mooi veldblom.
Vir die mense van die Biedouw is dit 'n Handjie – deel van die vallei se natuurlike én kulturele erfenis.

I have some great news! The weather has turned in our favour and I've just spoken to my contact in the Biedouw Valley. The flowers there are still putting on a spectacular display. Although Clanwilliam has decided to cancel its flower show later this month due to the unusually warm weather over the past few weeks, the West Coast flower season is only just beginning and is looking absolutely beautiful.
Everything is coming together perfectly, making next week an ideal time to experience the breathtaking carpets of wildflowers at their best.
Nature is ready to put on a stunning show and I can't wait to share it with you.
