An incredible sighting shared by one of our guests this morning

Naturally, we wish we could have been there to share in the moment - but being able to witness it (even if online) is also pretty incredible.

Thanks to for sharing!

There are some places in Africa that feel like more than just a safari destination, and Tswalu is certainly one of them.

Set in the vast Kalahari, Motse is a beautifully intimate camp with just nine suites, making it wonderfully private and personal. Days here are all about slowing down and enjoying the wilderness around you, whether that means heading out to find meerkats, searching for the elusive pangolin or brown hyena, riding through the reserve on horseback, discovering ancient rock art or simply enjoying your evenings around the fire with a glass of South African w**e beneath the stars of a Kalahari sky.

And then there is the bigger story behind Tswalu.

At 1,200 square kilometres, it is the largest private reserve in South Africa and, for more than 25 years, its focus has been on restoring and protecting this remarkable landscape. Every stay contributes towards that ongoing conservation work, helping to give the Kalahari and its wildlife a future.

Tswalu is a very special corner of South Africa, and one we think deserves a place on every safari wish list.

Today we're sharing a region that holds a special place in Melissa's heart. Having spent time working in Botswana's Khwai region, she fondly recalls the countless unforgettable encounters experienced along the banks of the Khwai River Channel.

"Leopard sightings on foot around camp were a regular occurrence, while baboons echoed alarm calls from the machaba trees overhead. It is one of those rare places where every day delivers something special."

To celebrate this remarkable destination, we're highlighting Khwai Leadwood. Home to just six beautifully appointed luxury suites, the camp overlooks the Khwai River and the wildlife rich plains of Moremi Game Reserve.

Positioned outside the national park, guests enjoy the added privilege of both day and night game drives, creating the opportunity for sightings of more elusive nocturnal species seldom seen during daylight hours. It is a safari experience that continues long after the sun has set.

If Botswana has found its way onto your travel wish list, we'd love to help curate a journey that incorporates unforgettable moments. 🐘

We recently had the pleasure of spending time at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, where we joined some of our clients for an evening during their safari.

Earth Lodge blends almost seamlessly into the surrounding bushveld. Its distinctive architecture, with thick, earthy walls and sculpted ceilings, creates the feeling that the lodge has emerged naturally from the landscape rather than being built upon it. The textured finishes, created using a combination of straw, stone and natural pigments, together with the surrounding vegetation that grows right up to the lodge, give it a wonderfully organic feel.

With just 12 luxury suites and the exclusive Amber Villa, the lodge feels intimate and wonderfully private. Each suite features a spacious, glass fronted bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private plunge pool, making it just as enjoyable to spend time unwinding at the lodge as it is heading out on safari.

One of the standout aspects of our stay was the dining. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared, and the changing dining locations ensured that each evening felt unique. Hein even had the opportunity to try zebra for the first time in all his years of guiding, which made for a memorable addition to an already exceptional culinary experience.

After our visit, it's easy to understand why Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is regarded as one of South Africa's most iconic safari lodges. It offers a rare combination of understated luxury, exceptional hospitality and complete immersion in the surrounding wilderness. It's a lodge we would recommend with complete confidence to anyone looking for a truly memorable safari experience.

Some adventures simply can't be experienced from the window of a safari vehicle.

Instead, consider exploring one of Zambia's most remote wilderness areas on horseback, riding through landscapes accessible only to those in the saddle. Hosted by renowned horseman Doug Evans, this is an experience designed for confident riders looking to immerse themselves in the African wilderness.

One of the highlights? The opportunity to spend a night sleeping beneath the stars, completely off the grid, surrounded only by the sounds of the African bush.

The good news is it doesn't have to end on horseback. We recommend a few days at the end of your Safari to slow the pace down along the Zambezi River or at a beautiful safari lodge!

It's experiences like these that remind us there's always another way to discover Africa and we encourage them!

📩 Get in touch with African Origins and let us create a tailor made itinerary that combines this remarkable horseback safari with the perfect post safari escape.

Some places make you slow down, take in your surrounding and just move at a different pace. Namibia is one of them.

With endless horizons, dramatic landscapes, a fierce coastline and incredible wildlife encounters. Namibia is a destination in which you can easily find places to be completely alone and for this reason it leaves a lasting impression.

At Etosha's Oberland Lodge, the destination offers 360 degree views of nature and surrounds. The Lodge is nestled on a private 5,500-hectare reserve which borders Etosha National Park.

White rhinoceros and a variety of plains game regularly visit the nearby waterholes, often visible directly from your suite during a midday siesta or during dining hours.

The suites are spacious offering privacy, comfort, and a genuine connection to nature. Days can be spent exploring Etosha whilst on Safari, joining guided bush walks, or simply relaxing as wildlife comes and goes.

Exploring the winding channels of the Delta by Makoro is an unforgettable experience. We were graced with Kudu sightings and close up encounters with the Angolan Reed Frogs that played chorus to every evening around the fire.

Water brings life and it was wonderful to be a part of it for a few days in Botswana.
