We recently had the pleasure of spending time at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, where we joined some of our clients for an evening during their safari.
Earth Lodge blends almost seamlessly into the surrounding bushveld. Its distinctive architecture, with thick, earthy walls and sculpted ceilings, creates the feeling that the lodge has emerged naturally from the landscape rather than being built upon it. The textured finishes, created using a combination of straw, stone and natural pigments, together with the surrounding vegetation that grows right up to the lodge, give it a wonderfully organic feel.
With just 12 luxury suites and the exclusive Amber Villa, the lodge feels intimate and wonderfully private. Each suite features a spacious, glass fronted bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private plunge pool, making it just as enjoyable to spend time unwinding at the lodge as it is heading out on safari.
One of the standout aspects of our stay was the dining. Every meal was thoughtfully prepared, and the changing dining locations ensured that each evening felt unique. Hein even had the opportunity to try zebra for the first time in all his years of guiding, which made for a memorable addition to an already exceptional culinary experience.
After our visit, it's easy to understand why Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is regarded as one of South Africa's most iconic safari lodges. It offers a rare combination of understated luxury, exceptional hospitality and complete immersion in the surrounding wilderness. It's a lodge we would recommend with complete confidence to anyone looking for a truly memorable safari experience.
