Snapshots from last week’s bootcamp. Hosted by the Nelson Mandela Bay Science Centre in partnership with Innovation-Led Development, this dynamic event formed part of Junior Achievement South Africa’s Social Equity Programme, aimed at equipping unemployed youth with crucial skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and community leadership.

The energy and enthusiasm throughout the week were truly palpable! Participants gained valuable insights into design thinking, financial management, and innovation.

And the cherry on top? Their remarkable business pitches, showcasing the creativity and confidence they developed during the programme.

Expression of Interest to participate in the 4 Day Youth Entrepreneurship & Leadership Bootcamp

Junior Achievement South Africa Social Equity Program aims to equip young South Africans with the skills needed to be employed or to start and run businesses, while also serving as change agents within their communities. Hands-on, experiential learning in financial literacy, digital literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

Are you inspired to deepen knowledge & skills in leadership, goal setting, project management, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, innovation and design thinking, digital and other skills in high demand by employers, and college & career readiness, including resumé/CV writing and interviewing skills workshops?

Transport and catering will be provided for the duration of the Bootcamp.

What the journey entails?
+ 4-day Bootcamp
+ 8 weeks online coaching & mentorship
+ self directed learning
+ a chance to pitch your project at the National and Regional Afrinnovate Youth Challenge (AYC).

Who is this for?

Youth 18-35 years of age
Not in education, employment, or training (NEETs)
Have finished secondary school and are unable to get into university (be digitally literate)

Stulting Primary School's Grade 5 learners had an incredible time at the centre interacting through chemistry demonstrations and a hands-on solar system workshop to introduce themselves to the different aspects of the solay system. 🚀✨ It’s amazing to see them interacting with our differently themed science exhibits with so much satisfaction 👏.

2025 Job Shadow Programme: It’s that time of the year again!!!🥳🤩 Applications for this year’s programme are officially open!

The NMBSTC job shadowing (or work shadowing) is an on-the-job learning, career development, and leadership development programme. The programme provides hands-on job shadowing opportunities to Grade 9 - 12 learners, to learn more about careers they can follow in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Innovation (STEMI) field.

Grade 08 to 12 embarked on a trip to the Nelson Mandela University Geoscience Department for the live hands-on experience on geology ( study of rocks). They got to experience the exciting geology museum and got some insight on the possible careers in Geoscience field.

On the same day, we also hosted an Eskom Expo for Young Scientists workshop, where learners received assistance with idea generation and the development of research plans in preparation for the district expo.

🌍🔥 Holiday Programme – Day 3: Science, Sustainability & Creativity in Action! 🎨🌋✨

Day 3 at the Nelson Mandela Science & Technology Centre was a perfect mix of experiments, innovation, and creative expression! 🚀🔬

🌋 The little ones became junior scientists, creating their very own interactive volcanoes! Using science magic—bicarbonate soda, vinegar, and food coloring—they watched their volcanoes erupt in a thrilling display of chemistry! 🧪💥

🏙 Our older participants took on a sustainability challenge, designing and building their own eco-friendly cities—a vision of a greener, better future! 🌱🏗

💬 They also engaged in a thought-provoking "Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree, Neutral" activity, where they shared their perspectives on key issues affecting our world today. Their reasoning skills and confidence truly shined! 🌎🗣

🎨 And to top it off, they showcased remarkable creative art pieces, expressing their thoughts through color and design. 🎭✨
