Khotso has been offering horse riding in the Southern Drakensberg for well over a decade and making this most incredible activity accessible to all intrepid travellers visiting this beautiful mountain range. “The Mzimkulu was in flood, way over the Castleburn Bridge when I called John Murray.
It was January 1987 when we walked the Low Line Pacer onto the Bridge and into the unknown.
Above the roar of the river as we approached what is today known as Black/Murray I shouted to John that we should get out and see if this is not a waterfall, the response was, Paddle!!!!
In all my years I’ve never been into such a huge hole.
So the Rapid, Black/Murray lives on.

Merrell Trail 'n Tube at Khotso Lodge & Horse Trails had a 16km and 8km trail run which included 1.3km of tubing down the Umzimkulu River.
