Now this is a surprise!!! So happy to see water in the river again! We didn't have much rain here but obviously heavy rain behind the mountain! This morning the air is beautiful and fresh. The bush and animals will feel a bit of relief.

Lovely stuff in this farmstall. Just before De Rust on the Oudtshoorn side. Had a roosterbrood with brie cottage cheese and fig preserve, washed down with homemade ginger beer. Perfect on this 39⁰ day 🥵

It's very hot today (40⁰ at 11h00) so a mongoose decided to cool off in our birdbath! The Pale Chanting Goshawk who was hunting nearby didn't pay any attention to this little guy who spent about 5 minutes lying in the water!

Christmas in the Klein Karoo... I was blown away this morning when I saw this tree in the middle of nowhere along the R341. It really put a smile on my face!!! And I just had to stop and appreciate what someone had taken the time to do. Makes me wonder WHO went to the effort. Whoever you are... most people probably whizz past without appreciating this Christmas tree, but I think it's fantastic! Thank you!
