👣🌍 WALKERS WORLD FRIDAY

After surviving an 18 metre fall on a Cape Town mountain trail, Tania Morkel faced a long and difficult recovery. Many would have stayed away from the mountains after an experience like that.

Instead, she came back stronger.

To honour the rescue teams who saved her life, Tania took on the challenge of climbing Table Mountain 64 times, raising funds to support the very people who were there when she needed them most.

Hiking isn't always about reaching the summit.... sometimes it's about resilience, gratitude and finding the courage to take the next step. 🥾⛰️❤️

To the boys in Green and Gold

As Hyqe Club, we just want to take a moment to wish Bafana Bafana the very best in their World Cup journey.

You carry more than just a badge on your chest; you carry the hopes, pride and spirit of an entire nation.
Every pass, every tackle, every goal...we’re behind you. From the mountains we hike to the communities we serve, we’re cheering you on loudly and proudly.
Play with heart. Play for each other. Play for South Africa.

We believe in you...and no matter the result, you’ve already made us proud.

Go make history

🌿 HYQE CLUB – WEDNESDAY BEHIND-THE-SCENES

Sometimes the best part of a hike isn’t the summit or the perfect photo, it’s simply slowing down and noticing what’s around you. The soft rustle of leaves, a bird calling in the distance, the steady crunch of your boots...and those rare moments of pure silence.
Out on the trail, nature has a way of quieting everything else. No deadlines, no notifications..just fresh air, open space and a chance to be fully present.
The trail is always speaking. The question is...when last did we truly listen? 🍃🥾

🌿 MONDAY - Nature/Safety/Plant/Animal

Know the difference between discomfort and danger.
That burning feeling in our legs on a steep climb? Discomfort. 😅
The voice in our head asking, "Why did we sign up for this again?" Discomfort.
A bit of cold, a bit of sweat and a lot of complaining on the uphill? Also discomfort.

But running out of water, getting caught in a storm, ignoring an injury or pushing beyond our abilities? That's danger.

One of the biggest lessons the trail teaches us is that not every uncomfortable moment is a bad one. Sometimes it's simply part of the adventure. The trick is knowing when we're being challenged and when we're genuinely at risk.

The mountains don't just test our fitness...they test our judgement too.

So next time the climb gets tough, ask yourself: Am I uncomfortable or am I unsafe? The answer could make all the difference.

🥾 Keep hiking. Keep learning. Keep it safe.

👣🌍 WALKERS WORLD FRIDAY

Somewhere above the clouds, where the air thins and every step becomes a fight to survive... a man kept moving.

A Nepali Everest guide; Dawa Sherpa, was climbing Mount Everest when he went missing during a descent on 29 May 2026; in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.

Six days later, on 4 June 2026, against all odds, he was found alive close to Everest Base Camp...having survived nearly a week in extreme high-altitude conditions, deep in the "death zone"

He endured it all; ice, silence and conditions that should have ended the story...slowly finding his way back.

This is proof that not every summit story is about reaching the top; some are about finding the strength to come back down.

We honour the resilience of those who move through nature’s harshest spaces with the courage to hold on, even when everything feels lost. May we never take a safe return for granted

🌿 HYQE CLUB - WEDNESDAY BEHIND-THE-SCENES

Winter hikes mean different prep. 🥾❄️

The cooler weather makes for great hiking but winter brings its own challenges. Cold mornings, changing temperatures, shorter daylight hours and dry conditions mean we need to pack a little smarter. Dressing in layers, carrying enough water, checking the weather and planning our route carefully... all help make for a safer and more enjoyable day on the trail.

🌿 MONDAY - Nature/Safety/Plant/Animal

Did you know? Indigenous grasses help protect soil from erosion.

It might just look like grass, but there’s a lot more happening beneath the surface. Indigenous grasses have deep roots that hold the soil together, helping to prevent it from being washed away during heavy rains or blown away by strong winds.

These grasses also slow down water runoff, giving rain a chance to soak into the ground instead of carrying away valuable topsoil. This helps keep the land healthy and supports the plants and wildlife that depend on it.

Next time we're out on a hike and walk through a grassland, remember that those grasses are doing an important job protecting the landscape around us. 🌱🥾
