The window to protect our fynbos is closing.

After the wildfires between October 2025 and January 2026, new life is returning to the Overberg. Fire lilies are flowering, protea seedlings are growing, and wildlife is returning.

But alongside the indigenous fynbos, invasive alien plants are also starting to return.

These plants can take up the space, water and sunlight that recovering fynbos needs. If left to grow, they can spread into areas where fynbos is trying to recover and create more fuel for future fires.

Right now, these invasive plants are still small, giving us an important opportunity to remove them before they become more established.

An estimated 5,571 hectares now need urgent clearing.

Clearing teams are already on the ground, but they need funding to keep going while this important window is still open.

Help protect the fynbos while there is still time by donating to the Rise of the Fynbos campaign. https://bit.ly/riseofthefynbos
