We are DIVE IN ADVENTURES, a small and personal woman-owned dive center and tour operator based in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.

Ragged-tooth Shark Anatomy

* 8 fins: 2 dorsal, 2 pectoral, 2 pelvic, 1 a**l and 1 tail.

* Teeth: Long, sharp and pointed, designed to grip fish.

* Gills: 5 slits on each side.

* Skeleton: Made of cartilage, not bone.

* Body: Strong, muscular, grey-brown with dark spots.

* Size: Up to approximately 3.2 metres.

* Special ability: Swallows air to control buoyancy and hover almost motionless.

* Reproduction: Usually gives birth to just 2 pups, with stronger embryos eating others inside the womb.
