It’s not about fine dining or perfect pairings. It’s about authenticity. A good South African red, honest food from the fire, and the kind of company you don’t find in cities. That’s the culture. That’s the experience.

The 2026 season has been good to us. Not easy—but good. The kind of season you earn, step by step, track by track.

Warthog hunting will humble you if you let it. They’re not just pigs in the bush. They’re sharp, tough, and always one move ahead. You don’t get old boars just by luck alone.

This year, three stood out so far.
Three boars. Three different hunts. Each one earned.

That’s what this life is about. Not numbers. Not trophies. Moments. Effort. Respect.

And in 2026, the bush has treated us well.

Meet Geelbooi Kwekwere Moeng, a legend born in the rugged Waterberg mountains. As a child, he ran barefoot among the rocks, learning the land’s whispers. But Geelbooi’s life took shape when he had to protect his family’s cattle from leopards prowling in the mountains. That danger became his obsession—and his calling.

He grew into a fearless leopard hunter, guiding others through the bush with no formal schooling, but an instinct honed by every step. Sundays were his prime hunting days, a small axe in hand, his dogs at his side. And when a leopard finally struck, it was a battle that cost him everything—his nose, but never his spirit. Discover Geelbooi—the barefoot boy of the Waterberg, the hunter of legends.

So much more than just a hunting trip - it's an EXPERIENCE

“I want to say thank you for such a great time! I honestly believe that if I didn’t shoot anything I would still say it was a great trip.
Amazing people, easy to talk to, and very informative. The amount of animals we saw every day, and the different types of terrain that they live in was incredible.
I also enjoyed seeing the farms, from the crops to the cattle. Thank you.
It was also a pleasure to meet Dolla at the restaurant! Very kind. It was a fun experience to go fishing as well.
I’m working on losing some of the weight from the fantastic food!
I hope all is well and that you have a great season!
Thank you.” - Don Burnap

Up at first light, but this day would turn into something none of us would forget.

It started as a bow hunt. The shot went off, but not perfect. On buffalo, that changes everything. We gave him time—about two hours—then took up the track.

It didn’t take long to see… the hit wasn’t good. The blood told the story. This was going to get difficult.

I released the dogs.

They picked up the line fast and soon caught up with him. The bush erupted—dogs fighting hard, holding him—but then everything escalated. Three other bulls came in to back him up. Suddenly it wasn’t one buffalo… it was a wall of power.

We called the dogs off. No need to lose them. We backed out and gave the bull more time.

Five hours later, we returned.

At the spot where the dogs had fought him, it took us only minutes to pick up where he broke away. We followed slowly… carefully… knowing this could turn at any second.

Twenty yards in—

My tracker said quietly, “Here he comes.”

He grabbed the hunter and pulled him hard to the right.

I stood my ground.

The bush was thick. I couldn’t see the buffalo—only the brush collapsing, trees snapping, something big coming straight through us.

Four yards.

Still no clear view.

I aimed for the center of the black and fired my .500 Nitro.

The 570-grain solid hit him in the chest. The impact turned him just enough—but not enough to stop him. He came through and hit me, not full-on, but hard enough to knock me down as his shoulder drove over me.

Dust. Noise. Pure chaos.

I scrambled up, grabbed my rifle, and turned.

He had already spun around.

Second charge.

This time I had a small window. Five yards.

I fired—straight between the eyes.

He dropped.

Right there.

Silence after something like that is different. Heavy. Real.

That was a close call… closer than I ever want again. But that’s buffalo. There are no second chances if things go wrong.

The hunter was overwhelmed, grateful it ended the way it did. Emotions ran high—we all felt it.

Because moments like this remind you—

Out here, it’s not a story.

It’s survival.

Another early start—up at 5:30, coffee and breakfast by 6:00, and rolling out by 6:30. The kind of morning where the world is still quiet, but you can feel the hunt already beginning. A near hour’s drive takes us deep into the country where anything can happen.

Paul and his team head back down the ridge, glassing the feeding grounds across the valley, while Riaan and I push west—after one animal only… a big kudu bull.

We circle in from a different direction, the wind in our favor. Every step is careful, every sense alive. As we ease into position, there he is… standing broadside, like something out of a dream.

Riaan drops the sticks, kneels, and gives the nod. Time slows. One shot breaks the silence—and the bull drops where he stands.

A solid hit—slightly high, but through both lungs and into the spine. A powerful, clean end to a hard-earned moment.

Walking up to him, the true size hits you. Massive body. Heavy horns. Deep, curling spirals thicker than a soda can. A true giant.

Measured at 56½ inches.

This is why we do it. Not just the hunt—but the journey, the patience, and the wild places that make it unforgettable.
