Qoo-oe means "Gathering Place" in the Gikwe Bushman language, suitably describing the facilities offered at the Qoo-oe Lodge, situated centrally on Qabe Private Safaris. The Waterberg mountain range in the Limpopo province of South Africa is a landmark well known to hunters over many centuries. The hunting and safari experience in this region is incomparable to any other region in South Africa. Wi
th its illustrious landscapes of African bush and rolling grass lands, it provides a hunting experience unlike any other. This is the reason why plenty of local and international tourists flock to this malaria free paradise. The Tambotie River which is one of the very few sustainable rivers in the area, has its origins on Qabe Private Safaris. An almost 3000 hectare farm which has become a home for plenty of game species over the centuries, such as Sable, Nyala, Wildebees (Gnu), Kudu, Impala, Waterbuck, Zebra, Giraffe, Eland and plenty of smaller game such as Duiker, Steenbok, Reedbuck and Bushbuck. As within any healthy eco system, Qabe Private Safaris hosts a variety of predators and scavengers such as Leopard, Jackal, Baboon and Brown Hyena. Not to even mention the rich diversity of trees, insects and plants than can be experienced. There is a good reason why this piece of earth is so rich in history and why it grabbed the attention of many song writers, historians and story tellers. Qabe Private Safaris has become known as a bow hunting paradise with state of the art hides specifically designed for the farm to provide the hunter with a unique hunting experience, as bow hunting has become a popular alternative to traditional hunting methods used in the past. Hunting is normally done from May to September but as a private reserve we can hunt throughout the year. We have seasonal rainfall which starts in November and ends in March with January and February being the wettest months. In May and June the vegetation is still very thick. Prime hunting time is from July to September, with each month slowly getting hotter and drier. Qabe Private Safaris makes use of experienced Hunting Outfitters, and offers various hunting possibilities and packages throughout the year. Activities for the guests include hiking, game drives, breakfast safaris, sundowner drinks at the dam, target shooting with a bow, bird watching or photography in hides, quad bike rides, elephant rides, clay target shooting and horse riding.
