Welcome to De Drift Mall – A Proud New Chapter for Velddrif
The Velddrif Business Chamber would like to extend a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to De Drift Mall / De Drift Shopping Centre, which officially opened its doors in Velddrif on 28 May 2026.
This exciting new development, located on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Ankoveld Street, brings a significant new retail offering to our town. With a project size of approximately 7 200m², around 25 shops, and anchor tenants including Checkers and Dis-Chem, De Drift is a welcome and well-deserved economic injection for Velddrif and the broader Bergrivier region.
The centre brings together a strong mix of national brands, services, food, retail and lifestyle offerings. Current listed tenants include Standard Bank, Checkers, Checkers Liquor, Dis-Chem, Petshop Science, Mr Price Apparel, PEP Home, PNA, Spec-Savers, Crazy Store, Spur (Estimated opening September 2026), Urban Fish, Biltong Republic, Senqu, Columbine Roastery, Thunder Bros Car Wash and several other local and specialist businesses.
As the Velddrif Business Chamber, we also want to acknowledge and thank everyone involved in making this development possible — the developers, contractors, architects, service providers, tenants, staff and local workers. Developments of this nature do not only bring convenience; they create employment, stimulate local trade, attract visitors from surrounding areas, and strengthen confidence in our town’s future.
We are especially grateful for the numerous job opportunities created during the construction phase and through the permanent retail and service positions now connected to the centre. This is a meaningful contribution to local families, local suppliers and the wider West Coast economy.
May De Drift Mall grow from strength to strength, serve our community well, and become a vibrant destination for residents, visitors and surrounding towns.
