As a pet travel agent my experience in pet travel is extensive as I owned and operated a very successful pet travel company which I handed over to my sons when I retired. Retirement was boring so here I am doing what I love and know best PETS

and pet travel. My pet travel experience started in 2003 when I started the very successful The Pets Taxi South Africa. We do not hire out flight containers as a wooden flight container is made from plywood and is therefore porous and therefore regardless of what other people/pet transport companies say it cannot be fully treated with anti-virucidal to kill viruses or bacteria (it cannot be fully immersed into the liquid anti-virucidal as it will swell and become soft) and is therefore dangerous to dogs and cats and especially very young puppies and kittens. We collected Tjopie Shih Tzu Keller, Sparky Jack Russell Keller and Beer Fox Terrier Keller from Kloofendal on 16 March 2016 and transported them safely to Ndola Airport to be reunited with their mom.

IF YOU ARE IMMIGRATING TO A COUNTRY WHICH IS A HEARTWORM AREA LIKE USA OR THE FAR EAST IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO SPEAK TO YOUR VET AND MAYBE START YOU DOGGY ON A MILBEMAX TREATMENT. Read below some extracts taken from a Milbemax phamplet:

Milbemycin oxime and praziquantel are the active ingredients in Milbemax®. Milbemycin oxime interferes with nerve transmission in invertebrates, which helps protect against heartworm, roundworm, hookworm and whipworm.

Indications: Milbemax for dogs is a broad spectrum intestinal wormer. If given monthly, it also offers prevention against heartworm. If given monthly, Milbemax protects dogs against all of the above, as well as heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis).

Treatment: Once every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age;
Then once every three months for protection against intestinal worms; Or once a month for added heartworm prevention, preferably on the same date.

Mature dogs should be tested for heartworm before receiving Milbemax for dogs. If a dose is missed, treat immediately and resume monthly dosing.

If an animal with adult heartworm infection (and therefore circulating microfilariae) is given Milbemax Dog, a mild transient shock-like reaction can occur. To avoid this, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment.

Dear Clients, our price range is unspecified because our price depends on the size of the pet and from where to where.

For example a little 8 week old kitten will fit into a #1 flight container (45X30X35), however an adult Great Dane will fit into a #12 flight container (125X70X105) therefore size has a say in price.

Flying the same from Johannesburg to Durban or from Johannesburg to Heathrow UK or from Johannesburg to Melbourne Australia, due to distance, airline, destination, services involved it is just not possible to give a price because it can never be the same as it also depends on the amount of pets.

We collected Bruce Rottweiler Nel, Lilleigh Yorkshire Terrier Nel and their two Kitty Catty buddies from Kimberley on 8 February 2016 and transported them to Johannesburg where they overnighted before their trip to Windhoek from where our Namibian agent transported them by road to Swakopmunt on 9 February 2016.

Their Daddy says that they arrived safely and happy.

Our Durban agent collected Shanga Husky Howes and Tusker Jack Russell Howes on 8 February 2016 from Richards Bay and flew them to George Airport on our behalf, they arrived safely at George Airport later that day. Their first stop was for a walk on the beach with their mother a very happy client.

We collected a cute little 8 week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy from Sabie on 13 January 2016, overnighted it and then flew it to Port Elizabeth Airport.
