Just a reminder to everyone... my page is called Bela Bela Heritage, I am not here to deny any part of our shared heritage. I am also not interested in anyone making derogatory remarks towards any individual, group, culture, organisation, religion, or nation for that matter.

If you don't like what I stand for, what I post, or how I word my posts... you are free to remove yourself from my page.

If you disrespect anyone, or anything I post, I will remove you from this page. No one is forced to be part of my group.

This is not a page where you can vomit your narrow view of history by disrespecting anyone else who has a diferent viewpoint to yourself.

I had to remove comments and one profile for just such an incident. I will not tolorate it. There is enough obscure pseudo-history pages where you and your views will be welcomed with open arms. STAY AWAY FROM BELA BELA HERITAGE IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT I POST!

Like I said before... there isn't something like my history, your history, and their history... there is only our history. We are a collective who would not be where we are today without each other... for good or for bad.

I tolerate much, but bigots, racists and prejudice, narrow minded people are not among those.

Respect, tollerance and mutual understanding of different viewpoints is key.

We preserve yesterday for tomorrow!

Join me on a tour of the 125 year old Warmbaths Blockhouse in Bela-Bela. Enjoy the ride... ask me anything about the Blockhouse and I'll see if I can come up with an answer.

This British Military Blockhouse was built in 1901 and formed part of the defensive railway line from Naauwpoort in the Cape, to Pietersburg in the north.

The tour starts on the top floor and works down to the ground floor.

This Blockhouse is still one of the best preserved in the country. One of just over 440 masonry Blockhouses built by the British forces in South Africa during the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). They were soon replaced by the Rice-pattern corrugated iron blockhouses to save costs. At the end of the war, around 9000 Blockhouses of all patterns dotted the South African landscape.

Based on a design by Major Elliot Wood which he devoloped in the Sudan, this Blockhouse is not only unique to South Africa, it is unique in the world.
