The stunning George Lily (Cyrtanthus elatus) currently blooming in our stunning Kaaimans gorge.

Always a special time of year when these beauties are out adding a pop of colour to the river.

I never manage to find viable seed on these babies once their flowers fall off but I have a theory.
Their pollinators are the mountain pride butterfly who only live in the higher parts of the mountain so pollination unfortunately doesn't happen at the lowlands.

But then how do these beautiful bulbs get here?
Another theory is they travel down the river in floods from bulbs/seeds dislodged high up in the catchments of the rivers and get stuck in these lower level rock crevices and start growing and providing a yearly show.

Nature is just incredible!

Into the Wilderness had the privelage of opening up an abseil route within the assegaaybosch nature reserve at Rooiberg Lodge at the foot of the incredible Rooiberg mountains.

With endless fresh water flowing out the mountain aquifers cutting through this hard rock carving out stunning cliffs and gorges and creating an ancient marvel of this land.

Now offering abseiling, kloofing and hiking in this picturesque landscape, carefully curated in collaboration by Into the Wilderness and Rooiberg lodge.

We are always filled with excitement when exploring the ins and outs of this magical landscape and the scope for adventure is endless.
