🔥 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡?

Whether you're a landowner or just enjoying the outdoors, wildfire prevention is everyone's responsibility. The law sets out clear duties to help reduce the risk of fire and protect lives, property, and nature. 🌱🏡🔥

Here’s what the law requires:

🚫 You may not start a wildfire under any circumstances.
🍖 You may only start a fire (even for cooking or a braai) in a designated area.
🧯 Every landowner must have equipment available to fight wildfires.
👩‍🚒 Every landowner must ensure trained personnel are available to respond to wildfires.
👀 A designated person must be on the property to keep a lookout for fires.
🔥 Every landowner must establish a system of firebreaks to help control the spread of fire.
⚠️ Burning firebreaks or doing controlled burns is not allowed when the Fire Danger Rating is high.

Staying compliant isn't just about avoiding penalties - it’s about protecting your land, your neighbours, and the environment.

Report wildfires to 044 805 5071 or WhatsApp 081 709 5193

The beautiful Outeniqua Choo Tjoe. 😍🇿🇦🚂

The Outeniqua Choo Tjoe was the last remaining continually-operated passenger steam train in Africa, ending operation in August, 2006. The line on which it operated links the towns of George and Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa, and was completed in 1928.

The scenic 67-kilometer (42 mi) route from George took 3 hours, following the rugged coastline of the Garden Route, and passing through Victoria Bay, Wilderness, Goukamma, and Sedgefield before crossing a bridge over the Knysna Lagoon and ending at the Knysna station.

During August 2006 the line was damaged by heavy flooding, and train services were suspended. In November 2006 the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe was temporarily rerouted to run between George and Mossel Bay (with a stop at Hartenbos). This service was discontinued on 17 September, 2010.

We wish the steam trains were still running! ❤️🇿🇦🚂
