Olimba — The Leopard Queen of Luangwa (Nsefu)
Today, we honour the life of a true legend of the Luangwa Valley. Olimba was more than a leopard — she was strength, beauty, confidence and wild royalty. For over a decade, she ruled her territory with grace, power and unmatched resilience, leaving all who saw her in absolute awe.
Born in 2011, Olimba grew from a fiery young leopardess into one of Luangwa’s most celebrated and recognizable queens. She became an icon for photographers, filmmakers, guides and guests from around the world — a symbol of what makes this valley one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries on earth. With her poise, her fierce courage, and her hunting mastery, she wrote her own legacy in the dust, trees and riverbanks of the Luangwa.
Olimba raised cubs, defended her ground, survived storms of nature, and inspired countless hearts. Though her journey has come to an end, her spirit will forever roam the ebony groves and sausage trees she once patrolled. She leaves behind a 9-month-old male cub, and we pray the wild will give him the strength to carry forward her line.
Queens may fall… but legends never die.
Your reign, dear Olimba, will be remembered for generations.
Your legacy lives in every photo, every memory and every soul you touched in this valley.
Rest well, Leopard Queen. Your kingdom will never forget you. 🐾
