Warthog: The Tough Survivor of the African Savannah.

The Common Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus) is one of Africa's most recognizable wild animals and a favorite sight during safari adventures in Zambia. Although they may appear intimidating with their large tusks and rugged appearance, warthogs are fascinating, intelligent, and highly adapted to life on the African plains.

Physical Appearance
==============
Warthogs belong to the pig family and are easily identified by:
Large curved tusks used for digging and defense.
Thick facial pads that resemble "warts," especially on males.
A coarse mane running from the head down the back.
A long, thin tail that stands straight up when they run, making them easy to spot across the grasslands.

Habitat
=====
Warthogs are widespread throughout sub-Saharan Africa and thrive in:

Diet
===
Despite their fierce appearance, warthogs are primarily herbivores. Their diet consists of:

They are well known for kneeling on their front knees while grazing because of their long legs and short necks. During the dry season, they use their strong snouts and tusks to dig for underground food and water.

Behaviour
=======
Warthogs display several unique behaviours:
They can sprint at speeds of up to 48 km/h (30 mph) when escaping predators.
They often retreat into abandoned aardvark burrows for shelter.
They enter their burrows backwards so their sharp tusks face the entrance, ready to defend themselves.
They enjoy rolling in mud to cool off and remove parasites.
Females usually live in family groups called sounders, while adult males are often solitary.
