Most safaris end with a lodge door closing behind you. This one ends with a campfire, an island in the middle of the Zambezi, and nothing between you and the stars.

Four days on the Lower Zambezi that go further than the usual game drive.

Day 1 — Arrive at Kiambi and settle into your luxury tented chalet. First evening on the river.
Day 2 — Early boat departure into Lower Zambezi National Park for a full-day game drive. Picnic lunch in the bush, then on to the island campsite to sleep out under the stars.
Day 3 — Breakfast at camp, then a scenic cruise back down the Zambezi to Kiambi. Afternoon village and banana plantation tour, or simply do nothing at all.
Day 4 — Breakfast, check out, and carry on — or stay a few nights longer. 🐘

There's a place on the Namibian coast where the desert runs out of land and falls straight into the Atlantic. Photos don't do it. You have to stand there.

Day 1 — Arrive Walvis Bay, transfer to your guesthouse.
Day 2 — Luxury catamaran cruise across the lagoon past dolphins, seals and pelicans, with fresh Namibian oysters, sparkling wine and canapés on board. Afternoon city tour — flamingos, salt pans — finishing at Dune 7. Climb it if you've got the legs.
Day 3 — 4×4 excursion through Sandwich Harbour, where towering dunes meet the sea. Dune drives, viewpoints, birdlife. Afternoon free for quad biking or camel rides across the Namib. Not Dubai. Better.
Day 4 — Swakopmund at your own pace. Cafés, shops, the jetty, the beach.

Lusaka wakes up early.

Kabulonga to town by seven. Emails before the kettle boils. Month-end that somehow lasts three weeks. The plot in the village that needs checking on. The family WhatsApp group that never sleeps. Somebody's wedding on Saturday, somebody's funeral on Sunday.

And in between all of it, a quiet question nobody has time to answer: when did I last actually stop?

Not scroll. Not nap between obligations. Stop.

Here's the thing we keep noticing. The people carrying the most are usually the last ones to rest — the managers, the business owners, the mothers, the ones everyone else leans on. Rest starts to feel like something you'd need to earn, and the bar keeps moving.

But your body doesn't work on a reward system. It works on recovery. And a person running on empty doesn't lead well, parent well, build well, or think clearly. They just keep going until something makes them stop.
