After 35 years of service, Boeing VC-25A SAM 29000 appears to have completed its final mission as the primary aircraft used for Air Force One duties, touching down at Joint Base Andrews after carrying generations of U.S. presidents around the world.

Delivered in 1990 alongside its sister aircraft, SAM 28000, the VC-25A became one of the most recognizable aircraft ever built. Based on the Boeing 747-200B, it features advanced communications systems, defensive capabilities, aerial-refueling provisions, and the technology needed to function as a flying White House.

As the next-generation VC-25B prepares to enter service, the legendary VC-25As are expected to remain in the fleet as backup aircraft, ensuring their story is far from over. After decades in the spotlight, one of the world's most famous jumbo jets is taking a well-earned step back from center stage.
