It’s Friday… close the laptops, silence the notifications, and disappear into the desert for a while

Just golden dunes, quiet skies, and the kind of peace that re-energizes the soul.

Some escapes aren’t a luxury - they’re necessary 🌍

Golden skies, forest whispers, and a rooftop view that makes time slow down

Some sunsets aren’t just watched… they’re felt.
This is the kind of Africa you never really forget.

Waking up in the quiet of the Namib Desert feels different…

Just soft light, endless dunes, and a kind of peace the world rarely gives you anymore.

At Jacaranda Holidays, our mission has always gone beyond simply moving travellers from one destination to another.

We are intentional about creating experiences that feel authentic, memorable, and deeply connected to place and people.

On Wednesday , at Oscar’s Restaurant, we brought together , , , and to deliberate on an important question:

How do local creatives meaningfully benefit from tourism?

Because the truth is they already play a critical role in the travel ecosystem.

They shape the stories.
They preserve the culture.
They create the texture and identity travellers are searching for.

Yet many remain fragmented, underrepresented, and disconnected from sustainable tourism value chains.

This gathering was therefore more than a conversation.

It was the beginning of building a collaborative creative community , one focused on developing practical solutions that generate both economic opportunity and social impact for local people.

We believe the future of tourism lies in experiences that are not only beautiful for the traveller, but also beneficial to the communities that make those experiences possible.

In many ways, this feels like the beginning of a quiet one that empowers local creatives while enriching the experiential value of travel itself.

And this is only the beginning.

Today we convene a dynamic community of visual, cultural, and crafts artists in Harare, not just for dialogue, but to explore a bigger question:

How do we position Harare as a destination through its culture?

Because destinations are no longer defined only by landscapes or infrastructure , they are defined by stories, creativity, and lived experiences. And at the heart of that lies the artist.

Harare has a powerful, often under-leveraged asset:

its creative economy. From visual arts to crafts, music to cultural expression ….. these are not just forms of identity, they are economic drivers.

When positioned intentionally:

- Art becomes a tourism product
- Culture becomes an experience travellers seek
- Creatives become contributors to value chains within tourism

This means more than visibility it means income streams, market access, and sustainable livelihoods for local artists.

At Jacaranda Holidays, we see an opportunity to integrate arts and culture into how we curate travel ~ ensuring that when people visit Harare, they don’t just pass through… they engage, experience, and invest into the local ecosystem.
