Kariba is now a small and spread-out resort town which is the starting point for tourism activities centered on the lake of the same name.

Useful information for a tourist (local and international):
There are a number of small hotels, lodges, holiday cottages, self-catering facilities and campsites dotted among the hills, bays and shorelines of Kariba town from where views of the lake are stunning. Many people visit Kariba briefly as a stopping off point prior to setting out from one of its four main harbours on boats across the lake either to stay in the safari and fishing camps on the southern shore mainland, in the Matusadona National Park or on the islands, or to spend a few tranquil days fishing, game-viewing, birding, sunbathing or simply relaxing on board a houseboat.

The Skywalk is one of the most renowned activities that is offered by Far and Wide Zimbabwe, some people also go there for dirt bike racing; mostly in December, the area will be buzzing with local and some international tourists.

Fact: Mtarazi Falls - The longest falls in Zimbabwe coming from Nyanga which falls into the Honde River.

The Victoria Falls also known as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’.

As the floods abate the view of the Falls gets better and better through the year, but at it’s lowest, around November and December the Falls become little rivulets running over the edge and in some places along the 1,7km width, no water falls at all.

The delight of visiting the Falls in this season is the view of the impressive cliffs that form the Falls wall, and the magnitude of the abyss can be fully appreciated. Sobek and Safari Par Excellence do trips by raft to the base of the Falls in low season called ‘the float of angels”.
