The Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA), represented by its Chairperson, attended the official arrival of Fastjet Zimbabwe's new Airbus A320 in Victoria Falls, an important milestone in strengthening Zimbabwe's air connectivity and supporting the continued growth of the tourism sector.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, the Deputy Minister, Hon. Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, said the investment reflects growing confidence in Destination Zimbabwe and will enhance regional connectivity through the Victoria Falls–Johannesburg and Harare–Johannesburg routes.
The introduction of the 168-seat aircraft is expected to increase tourist arrivals, improve travel convenience, and stimulate growth across key tourism segments, including MICE, sports, nature and wildlife, culture and heritage, and religious tourism.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the strong link between aviation and tourism, noting that every additional airline seat creates opportunities throughout the tourism value chain. He also reaffirmed Government's commitment to improving airport infrastructure and strengthening collaborative destination marketing ahead of the Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo 2026 in Masvingo.
AZTA welcomes this investment as a significant step towards enhancing destination accessibility, strengthening regional connectivity, and improving Zimbabwe's competitiveness as a leading tourism destination. 🇿🇼
