Today we celebrate the beauty of our home, Mother Earth!

We refer to our planet as Mother Earth, but would YOU treat YOUR mother in the way we treat the rock that we live on?

Thursday the 22nd sees the Celebration of Earth Day 2021 and the theme for this year is "Restore the Earth". A reminder that the day is celebrated to remind us that the Earth and its ecosystems provide both life and sustenance. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is almost as if the earth is trying to cleanse itself of the harm that we as humans have caused over decades and centuries of misuse and abuse. There are very few places on earth that are untouched by human habitation and no matter how primitive or advanced a population is, there is always damage done. Some that can be repaired in the short term, but much that will take many years to return to the condition that it was in before we arrived. And at present space exploration is considering populating planets like the moon and possibly even Mars. Should we not show that we can be guardians of a galaxy rather than destroyers?

Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable. To achieve balance among the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations, we need to promote harmony between humans and the natural world. It is time to draw a line in the sand, and say "So far and no further". It is beholden upon us…ALL of us…to do our part to help heal and repair what has been done to our Mother.
