What’s the minimum age to see gorillas in Uganda & Rwanda?
👉 Uganda: 15 years old and up
👉 Rwanda: 15 years old and up
This age limit is strictly enforced by park authorities in both Uganda and Rwanda for a few important reasons:
Gorilla trekking can be physically demanding (steep, muddy, and long hikes)
Gorillas are highly sensitive to human illnesses
Younger children may struggle with the required quiet, calm behavior during the encounter
💡 Good to know: If you’re traveling with kids under 15, we often recommend pairing the trip with safari game drives, cultural visits, boat safaris, or chimpanzee tracking instead—still wildly unforgettable.
