I ventured to Shady Camp last week with a group of mates, Micky Spring Tide Safaris , Miro (retired or tired), Ray from Raysea Marine and Michael (The Joker)
Reports I had heard from Micky and other guides was that the fishing was great previously, so with great expectations we hit the water.
First stop was to drop our gear off with Kev Adventures at Sea - Mantaray staying 3 nights on the Mantaray mothership. What a fantastic mothership and it was so good to be positioned near the mouth of Shady.
We fished Sampan, Tommycutt and coastal creeks for the 3 days and whilst it didn't set the world on fire as far as catching lots of barra we had a ball landing 31 for the 3 days. Biggest Barra was a 95cm caught by Miro using a Big B52 in Tropical Thunder colour
Majority of fish were caught on the Guppy's, The Culprit (small Judge prototype), Judge and Big B52's whilst Micky and Michael did use some other brand lures. All fish were caught using mono and Fluorocarbon leader and most using Schneider Braid.
A big thanks to Kevin and Karen for their hospitality aboard the Mantaray and their offsider Mick who looked after us.
A big shout out to Pete Barnes Territory Guided Fishing on the Beagle Gulf mothership who put up with Micky and I on the first night as there were other clients onboard Mantaray.
And finally thanks to Micky, Ray, Miro and Michael for an awesome few days.
