🎨✨ CALL FOR FIRST NATIONS ARTISTS, MAKERS & CULTURAL PRACTITIONERS FOR THE GUNNEDAH MAKERS DAY✨🎨
Arts North West is proud to partner with the Aboriginal Arts Steering Committee, Gunnedah Local Aboriginal Land Council, and Gunnedah Shire Council to deliver the inaugural Gunnedah First Nations Makers Expo – MAKERS DAY.
This exciting event will bring together First Nations artists, makers, storytellers, and cultural practitioners for a day of live creative practice, cultural sharing, and community connection at the Gunnedah Town Hall.
MAKERS DAY is designed as an interactive experience where artists are encouraged to actively demonstrate and share their creative process with the public throughout the day. This may include:
🖤 Live painting, weaving, carving, jewellery making, textiles, sculpture, or other creative practices
🖤 Storytelling, yarning, and cultural discussions
🖤 Hands-on demonstrations or informal workshops
🖤 Sharing knowledge about materials, techniques, and inspiration
🖤 Displaying and discussing finished artworks or works in progress
🖤 Developing or refining works for potential inclusion in the Gunnedah NAIDOC Exhibition
The event aims to create a welcoming and respectful space where community members can engage directly with artists, learn about creative and cultural practices, and celebrate the strength and diversity of First Nations arts in our region.
Artists will receive a $200 participation fee, with participation free for presenting creatives.
