Great explanation on why there is a shortage of aircraft at present and why prices have surged due to demand. Not enough planes and too many people wanting to travel can mean only one thing for prices and availability.

Returning just one grounded A380 superjumbo back into the air requires 4,500 hours of work, Qantas Airways Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce said, highlighting the challenge as aviation struggles to meet surging travel demand.

Domestic Border Permits to enter Victoria will end tonight 😀. Yay. Now we wait for the rest of our domestic borders to reopen so we can freely travel again.

International arrivals entering into Victoria will continue to require a permit.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of Victorians in getting vaccinated so quickly and the high levels of community protection - from 6pm today the domestic border permit system has ended.

The new public health directions come into effect as Victoria hits 90 per cent double dose vaccinated - it abolishes the traffic light border scheme and all domestic border permits, regardless of vaccination status.

For more information on COVID-19 in Victoria see https://www.health.vic.gov.au/media-releases/domestic-border-permits-to-end

With the borders opening and with us travelling Internationally again the Travel Insurance Council of Australia has reminded us that many countries are requiring Covid Insurance cover to enter. Www.smartraveller.gov.au is a helpful place to look for the requirements. At Eastern Hill Travel our preferred Insurance providers have comprehensive policies with covid cover for countries that do not have a "Do not travel" warning.

Things to consider when purchasing travel insurance
• Travellers need travel insurance to cover their specific trip – travel insurance is not one size fits
all and research is essential to find the product that best suits the individual traveller and the
specific trip.
• Don’t choose a travel policy on price alone – look at the inclusions, exclusions, excess and claims
limits.
• Buy travel insurance when booking and paying for big-ticket items. This means you may be
covered if an unexpected event forces cancellation.
• Not all travel policies will automatically cover COVID – some insurers may have this cover as an
add-on for an additional cost and some will include it in the policy as part of the overall cost.
• Travel insurance can cover cancellation costs if you need to change your plans. Read the product
disclosure statement before you buy your policy so you know how it will respond to cancellations
and delays.
• Check your destination’s COVID requirements – some countries will require inbound travellers to
not only be vaccinated but have a minimum amount of cover specifically for COVID related
medical expenses. You may also be required to have a negative pre-trip COVID test.
• Product Disclosure Statements should be read carefully to determine inclusions, exclusions and
limits, and how the cover responds to COVID-19 for specific situations and destinations.
• In some countries hospitals will refuse to provide medical assistance if you don’t have travel
insurance or the ability to pay upfront. This may be avoided by ensuring you have appropriate
travel insurance for you, your trip and activities to cover medical emergencies, particularly if you
have a pre-existing medical condition.
• Carefully read the terms and conditions if you are planning on to use complimentary travel
insurance that comes with some credit cards and consider purchasing additional cover.

It has been great hearing recently from some of our loyal customers about their travel plans as the borders begin to open up.
While there are still lots of unknowns and some restrictions in place we are starting to see more flights being introduced daily for many destinations which makes us excited that finally we all may be able to travel again within Australia and overseas! 😀
At Eastern Hill Travel we would love to hear all about what you are planning and happy to start looking at options as things bounce back.
